Yaletown Ventures announces new Calgary based partner
Yaletown Venture Partners announced yesterday that Brad Johns has joined the firm as Partner, where his primary focus will be on investments in the Information Technology sector in Calgary.
"Brad adds important new investment perspectives and relationships to our firm, and significantly strengthens our presence in Alberta," said Hans Knapp, founding Yaletown Partner."We are delighted to have him on board, and look forward to working with him on opportunities in Alberta, and throughout Western Canada and the US Pacific Northwest."
Johns brings 23 years of operating, business development, private equity and venture capital experience in the IT and Energy sectors to Yaletown. As the Senior Partner at Moneta Capital Partners, he was responsible for investments in IT and Oil and Gas companies, and was a key contributor to the investment performance of Launchworks, an IT-focused venture capital firm in Calgary. Johns has a decade of experience as an engineer and manager with Nortel, and as an executive with two telecom start-ups.
Could a full-time presence in Alberta mean more investment in local companies? Rod Charko, CEO of Alberta Enterprise seems to think so, "A full-time, local presence will better expose Yaletown to Alberta's investment opportunities, as well as benefit entrepreneurs by leveraging Brad's experience and Yaletown's global network."
