Zora, Affirm Partner to Help Landlords Get Paid

Zora, an Atlantic Canadian startup providing technology alternative to property management companies and Affirm, a financial technology company founded by PayPal cofounder Max Levchin, announced this week a partnership.

The partnership will allow Zora to ensure rent to qualified landlords on a due date, as well as offer qualified tenants ability to defer rent payment for up to two weeks for a small fee.

“We saw a pattern where, for legitimate reasons, such as medical emergencies or late paycheques good tenants where not able to pay rent on time and would go to payday loan places where they would pay huge fees just to bridge their rent payment short term,” explains Milan Vrekic, Zora cofounder.

Founded by Vrekic and Colin White in 2014, Zora was launched with a primary mission to help landlords land and keep great tenants.

Vrekic previously cofounded TitanFile and Volta, a Halifax startup house.
