In July 2001, AT&T Wireless became the first company to introduce the next generation of wireless services in the U.S. with the launch of GSM™/GPRS in Seattle, Washington. Through roaming agreements and affiliates, GSM/GPRS service is now available to more than 250 million people in the United States and available in more than 130 countries for voice calling and some 45 countries for data services. Additionally, in November 2003, AT&T Wireless took the lead in wireless data by introducing its national EDGE service, the fastest national wireless data service in the United States.
