Cross often? Make it simple, use NEXUS

NEXUS is a joint customs and immigration family of programs for frequent travellers that both the Canadian and American governments have implemented. The NEXUS programs are designed to simplify border crossings for pre-approved, low-risk travellers.

The NEXUS programs enable Canadian and U.S. customs and immigration authorities to concentrate their efforts on potentially high-risk travellers and goods, thereby upholding security and protection standards at the border. All NEXUS members remain subject to examination at any time when entering either Canada or the United States.

For more information about the NEXUS programs call:

The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) was created on December 12, 2003. It is part of the new portfolio of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, which includes emergency preparedness, crisis management, national security, corrections, policing, oversight, crime prevention, as well as border services. The CBSA reports to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness, the Honourable Stockwell Day.

The CBSA brings together all the major players involved in facilitating legitimate cross-border traffic and supporting economic development while stopping people and goods that pose a potential risk to Canada. It integrates several key functions previously spread among three organizations: the Customs program from the Canada Customs and Revenue Agency, the Intelligence, Interdiction and Enforcement program from Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and the Import Inspection at Ports of Entry program from the Canadian Food Inspection Agency.
