Business Unit Description: Motorola Canada Software Center The Motorola Canada Software Center (MCSC) is part of Motorola’s Global Software Group (GSG). GSG’s mandate is to provide software development services to all the Motorola product groups. MCSC develops software on a wide range of products and platforms. MCSC adheres to a well defined software development process and has successfully achieved the SEI CMM Level 5 certification. Some of the project work that is currently underway in the centre includes : •Development, enhancement and support of integrated solutions for state and local police agencies. These products are part of Motorola’s "Digital Justice Solution" suite of products. •Development of enhanced functionality for the two way radio infrastructure that is used by public safety (police and fire departments) •Tools to configure the cellular subscriber units •Tools to configure the network elements of Motorola cellular and two way radio infrastructure •Software applications for public safety that utilize the wireless communications networks. •Test and load tools for various network elements (cellular and two way radio) Software projects are executed by teams ranging in size from 2 to 30 engineers led by a Project Manager. Duties that project team members are expected to perform are described below.

Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations:

Computer-Aided Dispatch (CAD) software development: In cooperation with marketing product managers, systems engineers and other members of the development team, this key technical staff role will be responsible for the technical definition of a superior solution to customer and market-place requirements. Primary focus is development of Premier CAD product on current generation platforms. Solutions typically involve integration with database and communications COTS components, and other core and ancillary products in the DJS suite.
In addition, this person may be involve in the design and develop software applications for use on the Windows and/or embedded platforms for various Motorola products.
Participate in different software production processes (analysis, design, coding, testing).

Specific Knowledge/Skills

BSCS/BSEE or equivalent. MSCS/MSEE desirable. Must have at least 5 to 10 years of engineering experience using a mature development process (SEI Level 2 or higher), object-oriented development and be a top performer. Strong technical background, requirements gathering/analysis experience is highly desirable. Experience required in the following areas: Tandem Non-Stop Pathway, COBOL (85 & Native Mode), TACL, TAL, Enscribe, Inspect, Delphi Windows Development. Also helpful; Tandem C and RSC. Applicant should be effective in independently developing a full action plan from general instruction on new or complex work assignments. Applicant must be effective in a team environment and demonstrate good communication skills. Applicant should be have demonstrated ability to perform multiple tasks and set his/her own priorities properly. Applicant must be effective in briefing senior management. Ability to work effectively in a team environment or on individual assignments

Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in written English
Candidates must be flexible, willing to learn, analytical, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
