OpenFile

OpenFile

OpenFile is a collaborative local news site. You suggest a story. We assign a reporter. Together, we shape the news.
You suggest a story by opening a file. (A file is our term for a story.) You can also add to files opened by other members of the community by submitting related videos, images and comments.

At the same time that you and other members are opening files and helping them grow, our editorial team is participating in the conversation and assigning a professional journalist to investigate.

Our team works with hundreds of freelance reporters in cities and towns across Canada. Once assigned, these journalists collaborate with OpenFile members to deliver thoughtful reporting about local news and issues.

You know which stories are important to you and your community. By connecting citizens to the reporters who cover their communities, OpenFile helps get answers and ensures that we all have a better understanding of the issues that affect where we live and work.
