Significant Milestones
Shanghai Office
In Nov. 2007, Raincity Studios opened a second office in Shanghai, China continuing the vision Raincity Studios' CEO Robert Scales and President Kris Krug nurtured while traveling and participating in business outreach activities during several trips to China in the since 2005 including participation in China Access 2008 conferences.
The Shanghai office will complement the Vancouver HQ with the trans-Pacific teams working in close concert with their peers to create web communities for companies and organizations within China and around the world.
Further, by setting up shop in China, Mr. Scales plans to grow a talent base of Drupalists by knowledge sharing at workshops, and outreaching to developers. This initiative was started in advance of the opening the office when Scales and Krug organized Bar Camp "un"confernces in Beijing and Shanghai.
Bryght Acquisition
In Nov. 2007, Raincity Studios acquired longtime partner and Drupal hosting pioneer, Bryght. All Bryght staff were retained and former Bryght President Kris Krug was appointed President of Raincity Studios.
With the deal, the two teams have melded to create the world's first full service - from consulting to hosting - open source web agency and plan to build on the past successes of both enterprises and continue to expanding the global client list.
The Bryght name will live on as a brand of specialized hosting products - from "turn-key" hosted sites to enterprise-class mass-hosting solutions - as well as other offerings developed by VP of Product Development (and Bryght founder) Boris Mann.
