Raised Eyebrow creates beautiful, accessible, and user-friendly websites for nonprofits, government and progressive businesses. We are a Vancouver-based company specializing in online strategy, design and development. Our goal is to serve as a resource for quality website development and information, and to promote the web as a creative and empowering communications tool.
Creating web sites for our clients is only a small part of the story of our company, because while designing and building web sites is ultimately how we fill our days, the part that brings us back the next morning is our client relationships.
While we love our work, none of us here at Raised Eyebrow count the internet, technology or even computers as our first passion. Among us there are passionate activists, classical music lovers, literature majors, committed feminists and environmental stewards — and if you’ll look at our client roster you’ll see the same diversity reflected back. We view the internet as a powerful tool for sharing information and building community; our goal is to facilitate meaningful communication, and to help our clients work better and more efficiently through the judicious use of online tools.
Raised Eyebrow was founded in early 2000 by Lauren Bacon and Emira Mears, two women who shared a strong commitment to the value of building strategic, elegant and effective web sites for their cherished clients. In 2005 we welcomed Chris Torgalson to our team as an expert in web development — his contributions include exceptional CSS and (X)HTML skills, and strong proficiencies in Open Source CMS work. We had many applicants for the position, but only Chris shared our thorough attention to detail.
In 2006, we unionized as part of UFCW Local 120B; we are proud to be one of only a handful of unionized web development companies in British Columbia.
Situated on the edge of Gastown in Vancouver, BC, with a view of heritage rooftops and the stunning North Shore mountains, Raised Eyebrow continues to build a solid client base exclusively through word-of-mouth referrals.
