SMART's family of products facilitate the collaboration process, whether a group is in the same room or located around the world. All SMART solutions are designed to be very easy to use and the product line has a variety of configurations to suit a range of customer needs.
The SMART Board and Rear Projection SMART Board are interactive whiteboards that allow instructors, trainers and meeting participants to collaborate on electronic documents, instantly capture new ideas and create a complete record of all materials and notes discussed during the session. Participants press on the SMART Board or Rear Projection SMART Board with their finger to control projected Windows® or Macintosh® applications and multimedia materials, such as CD-ROMs or the Internet, directly from the Board’s touch-sensitive surface.
Using the natural whiteboard tools included with the SMART Board and Rear Projection SMART Board, participants can simply pick up a pen from the SMART Pen Tray and write notes over top of their applications. The SMART Board is designed to be as easy to use as a conventional whiteboard so any participant, regardless of his level of technical knowledge, can easily record his notes to a computer file. All notes written on the SMART Board or Rear Projection SMART Board, and all annotations made over software projected onto the Board, are saved to a computer file. These notes and images can be printed from a computer printer, e-mailed, posted to a network, saved as an HTML file or copied and pasted into other applications.
SMART Board Software, included with every SMART Board and Rear Projection SMART Board, saves all of the notes and annotated computer images to a computer file. SMART Grouping, a feature in SMART Board Software, automatically groups words or phrases written as one idea as a single object. This means notes can be selected and then resized, moved, grouped or ungrouped and copied and pasted with ease. Additionally, notes can be configured in a wide array of fonts, colors and widths even after they have been even created. Notes written over top of applications can also easily be saved to a computer file for future reference. Groups needing to enter text at the SMART Board can use an on-screen keyboard, included in the SMART Board Software, that floats over top of other applications displayed on the SMART Board. Participants can press on the keys to enter text and numbers into applications and documents.
