The Mobile Experience Innovation Centre
The Mobile Experience Innovation Centre is a public-private consortium engaging leaders in mobile research, design and innovation. Funded by the OMDC through the Entertainment and Creative Clusters Partnerships Fund, the MEIC includes 6 academic institutions and over 30 organizations from across the mobile industry, and is led by the Ontario College of Art & Design.
As of March 2009, Phase 2 of the MEIC has launched, to facilitate research & prototyping between industry and academia. Through 3-month initiatives in mobile design, user experience, foresight, business model innovation, etc, the MEIC develops partnerships to link faculty, students, SMEs and corporations.
The MEIC aims to build capacity in Ontario through these partnerships by focusing efforts, resources and funds towards four key areas:
- Business Development and Advocacy
- Training and Transitional Skills
- Incubation and Financing
- Research
