VA Angels is one of the leading Canadian angel groups and is one of the largest gatherings of business angels. Established in 2003, VA Angels has been in operation for the past ten years. The group has grown over the years and now has over 100 accredited investor members. Since its inception, the members of VA Angels have done 57 deals for $28.3 million.
Formally, Venture Alberta Forum the new VA Angels brand was launched in September 2012 in the lead-up to the opening of new Western Canadian chapters in Kelowna and Winnipeg in the fall of 2012. VA Angels now has four laocations in Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna and Winnipeg with member backgrounds in IT, bio tech, clean & energy tech, media, communication technologies, real estate, health and life sciences, hospitality, transportation, and finally oil and gas.
VA Angles is about developing on natural strengths — a culture of opportunism and the desire for strong community. The group is about best practices and utilizes a strong due diligence process, an investor led Forum, and a strong follow on reporting requirement to provide the best possible service level to the membership.
