The Penny Arcade Expo (PAX) gets underway later today in Seattle for three day of festivities celebrating tabletop, video, and PC games.
We call it a festival because in addition to dedicated tournaments and freeplay areas we've got nerdcore concerts, panel discussions, the weekend-long Omegathon event, and an exhibitor hall filled with booths displaying the latest from top game publishers and developers. Even with all this amazing content the best part of PAX is hanging out with other people who know their shit when it comes to games.
While there will be a number of great Pacific Northwest gaming stories taking place in Seattle, a non-gaming start-up is getting some unexpected attention. Vancouver-based CellMap has taken it upon themselves to create a mobile version of the conference map and event schedule which runs on most mobile devices. And PAX attendees are loving it:
Attendees of this weekend's PAX (originally wrote PAXstravaganza, thought better of it) may find this file useful. It's this year's guide in .pdf format, which will give you an extremely complete preview of the coming event. We were also contacted by a company called Cellmap, who made a version of the map and event schedule that will run on most phones. Except my phone, of course. My suffering is legend.
Congrats to CellMap - smart partnership that should get you plenty of eyeballs.
