News America Marketing, a subsidiary of News Corp, today announced the acquisition of Toronto's Checkout 51. Terms of the acquisition were not announced.

Checkout 51 mobile app enables consumers to browse weekly discount offers on a wide range of grocery items including fresh produce, household and personal care, and then redeem the offers post-purchase simply by taking a photo of their receipt.

Canadian Drone Company Acquired by Trace Live Networks

Venice, California's TRACE Live Networks announced this morning that it has acquired Saskatoon's Draganfly Innovations.

TRACE is the developer of The TRACEr1, a visually intelligent camera capable of following its owner almost anywhere and live-streaming captured footage to the internet. Draganfly is a commercial small Unmanned Aerial System (sUAS) specialist.

Photo Community & Marketplace 500px Raises $13 Million in Series B Funding

Toronto's 500px announced today that it has closed a $13 million Series B round led by strategic investor Visual China Group, a leading provider of digital visual content with market cap over US$3 billion.

All major investors from 500px's 2011 Series A round including Andreessen Horowitz, Harrison Metal, and ff Venture Capital participated in the round, bringing the total investment raised to date to $23 million.
