What: To inspire Curieosity, Natalie Panek will share ideas, insights and personal stories, to help mentor, build confidence and curieosity in the next generation of young women who want to hear more about aerospace engineering.
The evening is an extension of the Curieosity Student Leadership Conference 2014 presented by Mad Hatter Technology Inc. held on May 29, 2014 that inspired 200 local female high school students to consider careers in science, technology, engineering and technology (STEM).
Who: Natalie Panek, @nmpanek is a robotic operator and aerospace engineer at MDA Space Missions, previously interning at NASA Goddard Spaceflight Center and NASA Ames Research Center.
She’s driven a solar-powered car across North America, has a pilot’s license, and skydived with Korea’s first Astronaut. With degrees in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Natalie has co-authored papers on Microgravity Combustion and On-orbit Satellite Servicing. She has also spoken at TEDx and on multiple panels for International Women’s day on topics ranging from revolutionizing women in technology to leadership and space exploration.
Natalie is an advocate for encouraging women to dive head-on into challenging careers and take risks, recognizing that we need to foster innovation in order to challenge the foundations of our generation and the next. She is a champion for the power of mentoring and actively mentors girls in STEM via the University of Calgary's Cybermentor program.
Where: The evening with Natalie Panek will be held on June 19 at The Tannery Event Centre, City Commercial Core, Kitchener, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
How: The session is free to attend for all local female high school students, university students and women interested in STEM - science, engineering, technology & math.
