What is Startup Weekend: Library Edition?
Startup Weekends are weekend-long, hands-on events where aspiring entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs can find out if their startup or product ideas are viable. Solution-driven professionals work together with developers to create products in response to real-world needs. For the first time ever, we’re bringing together developers, designers and entrepreneurs with library professionals to create dynamic solutions to issues facing libraries.
You may be familiar with the Startup Weekend template. Attendees begin the weekend on Friday night, bringing ideas to pitch before an audience. Teams, comprised of both technical and non-technical participants form around the best ideas and spend Saturday and Sunday building a prototype. Volunteer coaches and mentors are available throughout the weekend to provide advice and support. The event culminates with product demos before a panel of judges, with prizes awarded on Sunday evening.
We are excited to be offering this new twist on the Startup Weekend experience and can’t wait to see the innovations and collaborations that result.
Space is limited! To get updates about the event, sign-up via e-mail, and follow us on Facebook and Twitter (#SWTOLib).
