Hey Monster,

That was a great idea creating a SEO for google. I'm not sure why, but there are a lot of people that treat pageranking as some mystical phenomenon where the correct arrangment of keywords, paragraph length, image ALT's etc will lead to a page being most perfectly optomized.

Read Sec 2.1 from:
http://www-db.stanford.edu/~backrub/google.html

"PageRank extends this idea by not counting links from all pages equally, and by normalizing by the number of links on a page. PageRank is defined as follows:..."

There exists another paper, which I can't find, but if you want me to dig I can try to find it for you. Basically Page rank is a sparse matrix problem. There are 4 billion pages on google. Only a few out of those match a keyword search.

Each "hit", is an entry in this matrix and has a weight.

This weight is calculated by the number of references to this page, but if a reference to a page has n other references, the weight to that reference is say 1/n.
For the entry of interest take a sum of those references and voila! (A bit more to it than that, but for a general idea that's it.)

Hope you win the contest

Mark:

Based on your comment, I guess you've NEVER actually done any SEO. Reading an article or two doesn't make you an expert.

Especially given the Florida update, Google barely even thinks about OnPage these days. Anchors, Anchors, Anchors. heh

Ohh, and count me in. Since I host with you, do I get to learn the keyword on the 6th (-;

hah,

Mike [:)]

That wouldn't be fair :)

I'm still waiting for Mike or anyone from TechVibes staff to join.

What is all this hunger for ranking? chase ..chase.. and more chase for ranking... If you are ranked (line 1 page 1) would that make you happier? would that guarantee you a sale?? guess again ... Ok they knock on your door first then what... u gotta do a much harder work to impress the potential client: your site! You know I'm not ranked in any search engine at all I just don't bother with thi sfutil hipe... but I am there in page 1, where it counts most. that's for you to guess
how...

I have seen people be ranked number 1 w/o doing anyting. This competion is about proving you are good against other SEO experts.

Just for those following the word xoduszero is the keyword that has been released for the competition.

It is still anyone's game and lots of room for anyone to join. (Even Mike from Techvibes)
