After a two year hiatus of traveling the world, I just recently moved back to Canada, and am in the beginning steps of forming a proper corporation again. The first and most difficult part obviously, is finding a good team.
Briefly, I''m 26yo, been doing online software development my entire life, and started and managed a successful software company which was the market leader in its industry for five years, before selling it in Oct 2005. Since then I''ve been working on a new software infrastructure concept. The development took approx 14 months, and I''ve been using it for everyday development for about a year with great results. So far, I''m really happy with everything.
On top of the infrastructure itself, the final version has a very strong community emphasis, which is the key to success for this. This has huge potential, and I''ve very confident about that. What I''m looking for right now is three skilled developers who are willing to invest about 300 - 400 man hours over the next several months. No money is needed or wanted, but skill and time is. In exchange, you receive part ownership of the new corporation once formed, plus a beneficial profit sharing agreement in place.
I have a good 26 page business plan, and a great demo of everything ready. If anyone is interested in giving me a listen, please let me know. I''d be happy to buy you a coffee, beer, lunch, dinner, etc., get to know each other a little, and show you what I have.
If you''re interested, please get ahold of me at:

my question is this...
you have sold and made a profit from one company...
so why not just hire the 3 developers, pay their wage and be sole owner of the end product?
If your plan is as great as you imagine, this would make you much much more money in the end and it would attract a more skilled individual to do the work.

Hi vomedia,
Thanks for the reply, and yes, my first company was quite successful, and is still the market leader for its industry. That doesn't mean I rich right now though (marriage and world travel is expensive ;)).
I've had offers from VCs though, and some quite generous including relocation, a six figure salary, and full funding for the development. I refused them though, as I do not want to be owned by an investor who doesn't care about myself or my company.
On top of that, I don't want employees who work for a monthly salary developing this concept. I'd much rather have a small core team that has a vested interest, because then you get the heart and passion involved with development, and I think that shows through in the final product.
Anyway, I'm still out meeting as many developers as I can, so if anyone's interested in giving me a listen, please let me know. So far, at the very least, everyone has been interested in the concept, and sees potential in it. I don't like disclosing details until an NDA is signed though.
Thanks,
Matt

hrm, interesting.
My problem is that I am far too busy with contracts, teaching and my own projects that there is no way I'd be able to invest time into something new. I would require getting paid as normal, as many other developers also would.
Good luck.
