as a former cdi student. I would like to advise anyone thinking of going there to not even consider it. The training is poor and cheap. They are just in it to get your money and be gone.
another friend of mine was kicked out of there recently due to attendance reasons they claimed. this is after the teacher showed up 3 hours late and left students waiting. then the next teacher after was 50 minutes late. what a joke they are. they are unorganized, dont help their students with their outreach programs, not enough supplies for the students either.
I called CDI that day to inquire about my friends dismissal only to be hung up on by their staff. what they dont know is that i am a former cdi student that also went through the same BS. complete scam and poor quality ignorant staff stay away from the school.

I have read so many of these complaints so far and it really sickens me to know how the ministry of education can just let this go on this way. What made me come to this site was because of recently, Everest college is being sued for the violation of the human rights and disabilities act in the states for the scam they tried to commit on an innocent young women who only had high aspirations for herself, and just like myself was sold into the idea of a strong solid foundation for a better future.
So here is the
YouTube video.. feel free to watch the horror unfold for this sweet women, and her unexpected fate that awaits her. I hope this big named lawyer takes Everest for all they are worth! Gloria Allred is the lawyers name, and has been featured on so many CNN News Broadcasts on huge hot topic issues... It's going to be so fun to watch her drag their name in the mud. http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=LBk3oZbnSUU
So here is "My Story".... I am as naive as they come.. gullible to the point where I am always thinking the best of people, and that there is a decent world with honest people ready to look out for your best interests. I had heard of some bad experiences from people who had attended the school, but also one good one.. who to me this women I highly regarded and took her word to be genuine. This was back when Everest was CDI College, before they were bought out by Corinthian Colleges from State side. Canada was the untapped corner market ripe for the picking. Half the Canadian population still hasn't even heard of Everest College.. or that could just be the case for the career industries.. cause I always here, "Who?" after I refer to my school just to obtain a placement, never mind a job thereafter...
Ready to be Shocked and Mortified!!!! This was my experience attending the Upper James Campus in Hamilton, Ontario. People talk a lot about dedication, and putting all their effort into making their careers work for them on this forum/blog and trying to back up a college for their own personal social experiences that happened to be the highlight of their lives while attending their so called perfect campuses...
Ya we all make friends in college.. that shouldn't give you reason to like school.. case in point.. one girl who shall remain nameless.. attended the same classes as I had, experienced the same horrors I had experienced, and complained more than I ever had while attending there. To this day we are still friends and she only remembers the smallest good things about classes there, and they were the social aspects and interactions we all had. Ignorance is bliss... but this about human rights, not social interactions.
Some people love drama.. that was the basis of my whole class experience. Even the instructors got in on it as well... I have to say the only person I would regard there as curious and kind, always willing to listen, but even to her, being the school director, our class was too much for her to even handle. She was trying to run a broken school with no morals or justifications for their misrepresentations. There was some guy I heard about who was above her that ran basically everything, but I don't even know his name, because its not easy remembering a name of a man you have never met or even seen once in the entire eight months I attended. I did see his office in passing a lot.. of course empty.. who knows where this man was half the time.
So my class started off pretty well.. I had the whole spiel about making a difference in society, and that I had huge potential to make an impact in peoples lives. I got up every morning at 5:30am to catch the 6:15 bus(s) all the way up to school to just make it there for 8am.. So when I get there I generally have my coffee in hand just before I take a seat. All was great for the first 2 months I was there with my first instructor. Who was the most professional of the three I had in the whole time I attended.. yes THREE!! I learned a lot from the first instructor who had a full time job else where, which meant wednesday and fridays we had a different instructor, who half the time came in, clearly not a morning person, who btw you couldn't talk to until she had her morning coffee.. her words not mine. She was generally late, and didn't care how we learned so long as we taught ourselves, because our first teacher would always catch us up on work we missed the next day, or we would ourselves over the weekend. Most of the time we would sit in class reading our of text books which when going through admission were promised in the tuition to be included! NO... be careful to word play, they mean to say, "Included in your OSAP". We were all blind sided with that one... The ones who could afford it, or was covered by some other means had the books pre- ordered, and we were instructed to buy brand new text books on Their Website, with a cost of a third more than Coles, or Amazon.com, was offering for brand new text. With free shipping which their site did not offer.
Right away we found out the tests were not up to date with the current addition to the text books. The tests themselves where dated from years back, and recopied for use to write on. For the field we were going into it was based on dozens of theories, and models. Which changed with economical developments, and science and years of research, so to have a test dated years prior to additions that have been revised up to nine times, peoples opinions and facts change. Which forced us to have to spend almost two hours, once so long that half the class walked out just over how many errors the test had.
Have you ever heard or been to a college where you the student had to sit and revise the test, and if it had in fact been a faulty error
The Markold material in the test paper, everyone who had the mark right in the first place even after proven wrong still kept the mark, and those who had the right answers according to the text was given the extra mark(s) for all the mistakes that had been right in the first place.
Our second instructor, the one I mentioned above who hated teaching altogether, and was clearly devoted to her other career before she even tried to put effort into this one, was eventually fired, but not after years of complaints, and the outrageousness of her complete lack of quality in her work was found out to have given students the task of Grading Our TEST PAPERS! Because she herself said she had other things to do. Students who were in our same class.. grading our papers. She wasn't fired after that... no, not even when she was found to be taking all our tests off school campus, which is clearly stated in The Ministry of Education to be a Violation of Student Rights. She was given a slap on the wrist.
We lost our best instructor, the one who I learned so much about the field I was going into from. Her notes were phenomenal! College material notes! We would start class right away she would have the board covered in writing, and go through everyone explaining it.. I got 80's and even some 90's. I know I could have done better if I had the time to fully commit.. Between school and work I worked 16-18 hour days, and still managed to get high marks like that while she was teaching us.. I kept all her notes for the 3 months she taught us. It is a college issued binder packed so tight, so organized and neat.. that I still display it on my book shelf. When she left everyone's grades plummeted. Even the best students in class were so outraged by test marks, and one or two times we were all stunned when two of the best students failed a test. I was making it by barley holding on to that 70 average for the rest of the course. The requirements always changed from 60% was a pass one day... 70% the next.. and so many people had to re-due the modular to graduate.. which meant paying out more money.. hundreds of dollars.. so when our new instructor was introduced to us, who had NO Formal Training.. None in teaching, and no on the job training... she just had a lot of experience in the field. So our first day with her she drew a heart or some flower on the board and went around the class and made us all tell why we were there and what we wanted to do with our lives... this was already half way into the course.. we knew each other pretty well. She only read from the text books given to her and would stop and give her opinion on everything.. how it's interesting that people have so many different theories on one subject, and how it's always changing? She never once used the notes from our previous instructor, so it took some trial and error before she got into the rhythm of teaching.. So a whole month was wasting.. but the tests never stopped.. when we were sharing our feelings and getting to know each other we were failing midterm exams.. or whatever you want to call them.. midweek exams. I was never so unfortunate to fail the major tests that was necessary to pass, but that first month she started working there half of the morning class and half of the afternoon class failed one of their major exams. Turned out to be a total of 20 something people. lol so guess why they didn't fret one bit when everyone was outraged? Because it costs 50 dollars per-person to rewrite a failed exam.. they made a profit of 1k that day...
So there were rumours flying around after she started that this new teacher would be the head teacher, and of course the older one who didn't want to do anything was highly threatened by her. Even though the new teacher had the least experience of the two in teaching.. the new one had no other job, more time, and was so much friendlier. Besides for her lack of teaching experience, she was a breath of fresh air compared to the older, somewhat meaner teacher. So she tried to sabotage the new teachers efforts, while the new teacher tried to make the best of a bad situations, we suffered more than I ever thought any of us would. The old teacher actually wouldn't share notes, or learning material with the new teacher, so more often than not we spent most of our mornings relearning things we already had from the newer teacher because the older one thought she was an idiot and that what we learned from her wouldn't do us any good anyways, so she would teach us her way, or no way... or like most days the new teacher would come in with notes diliberatly given to her that we had learned from the day before from the other teacher, and have no other material to teach us with because the school failed to provide both teachers with said material. lol OR... the new teacher would be told to teach us chapters we needed for the final exam, but not the midterm exam.. which would be the week we were on. My notes from the time the good teach left to the last two who refused to get along were a third of what I had when I started and so disorganized that by the end of it all more than half the class just barley made it over the 70% mark to graduate onto placement which you have to find yourself.. they help you in the way that they tell you its not them, its your shawty resume, and your lack of trying that doesn't get you into a good placement. When in fact all I heard when I called anywhere was, "why are you calling and not your school?" Or, "We don't take Everest Students." I also learned there is a reason for my course in a regular college to last two full years, because you get a diploma at Everest, not a Degree, and in my field for entry level positions you need a two year Degree to even be concidered for a position starting off at the bottom, with a starting wage of 13-15 an hour, not the 30-40k a year like they promised you would get once you graduated.
I forgot to mention above their marking system. Attendance plays a huge part in your grades... the reason for this is because this is one of the issues the Ministry of Education sets for them because they are a fast-track college. Inorder to get the required curiculum done to maintian a standard level of education for the course outline and deliver the material set by the ministry and to prove to them that they can deliver the educational tools to their students within such a short learning period, you must complete the minimum hours set out by the ministry. But there is some breathing room, so long as you have a doctors note, although that may not be enough. One girl in my class who had to go for major surgery had to re-due her modular ontop of the following weeks modular inorder to pass both, or risk paying hundreds more to have to re-due it the next year when the modular was to be taught again to another class. The drop out rate his really high for this campus. Most people couldn't handle the pressures of the course work, and the deadlines. Sometimes you had projects on top of projects, and test after test all in one week, or up to 6 chapters to study in 5 days. Or less than 5 days if the teacher could not be there one day out of the week, or if the school was closed for a holiday.
Needless to say our class got out of hand because of mismanagement, and the fact that, well they just don't give a shit. Complain all you want.. every student did when they were there, or atleast the ones who had voices. The ones who couldn't muster the courage to speak out were the ones who failed moduals due to lates and absenses so too many marks were taking off. It was 3 marks for an absent, and 1 mark for a late. In community colleges and universities they don't take attendence.. it was your future, and if you choose to fail tests because you didn't care about showing, or studing, that was a choice. At Everest you do not have that choice. If you got up to go to the bathroom while the teacher was teaching, that was 1 mark, if you talked back or voiced an opinion, that was another mark, if you drank or ate in the classroom, that was another mark, if you came back late from a brake that was another mark. In the total of one day you could loose 7 marks. Just say the bus was late the next day, thats another 3 marks added to your 7. That's 10% of your grade out the window right there. Depending on the modular if you needed 70% to pass over all. Most people didn't make the grade because the over all mark was what made the difference in whether or not you were to fail and pay $400-$900 to re-due the whole modular. Participation mark was seperate from the attendance mark, which was 10% in it's self. And really that ten percent meant whether or not the teacher like you that week.. cause participation means sh*t really.. It's literally grade school marking.
All in all, when thinking back on it all, to describe my whole experience would be the day I sat in class next to tears and beside myself after realizing I was next to starving with next to no money because I had less than $1,500 in living expenses.. which that text book thing I mentioned before all new books was $1200, most I went without, or copied, with transpertaion costs which are not covered in this expense, working just to pay bills. I never pushed myself so hard in my life to get through that misery, to just finish what that $14,000.00 dollars I would have to pay back one day, to just finish because of that expense. Not because of a better future which I knew I wasn't getting. Not to feel like I accomplished something, which I did not. Not to think I ever had a hope at making a difference in this world for other people, which I won't ever be able to do in that capasity. It was because it cost so much, it cost me 14 grand, and it cost my pride, but most of all, it cost me my faith and hope that I was living among honest decent people who care for my welbeing. Thank God it didn't cost me my Soul. I am hoping to go to Mohawk someday soon when I can afford to take writing classes and pay for it out of pocket, so atleast I still have the hope left in me for strive for a better future. That atleast I am proud to say is still intact.

CDI/Everest/Corinthian Colleges etc.....are a complete and utter scam. Until you have had the full experience you will not understand just how bad it really is. They claim to be an alternative to traditional post-secondary institutions such as real Universitites and Colleges(public ones). This is certainly not the case as the material I was covering in the CDI "business administration"(should be called "secretary training" course) was basic to general high-school level material at best. It was common sense stuff that any teenager would/should know. I was shocked when I realized that what I was learning was stuff that I had already learned 4 years prior in GRADE 10! As an ex university student(a REAL provincially funded one, NOT U of P, Everest, Devri etc.),I knew the material at CDI was childs play in comparison so....1 mark off for that. The lies about job placement; recruiters; job assistance; job leads were abysmal. The "campus director" told us that there was a job we could apply for after graduation managaing mine workers in Elliot Lake for 60Gs a year(seasonal too!). When I graduated and asked about the job she gave me a dead stare as if she didnt know what I was talking about.. There was also these supposed "recruiters" who would come to the school to scope out CDI grads exclusively. We were always told to dress well and to act professional so as to give these "scouts" a good impression...strangely enough I NEVER did see but one of these supposed recruits....NONE, NEVER. The guy they eventually got to handle "job leads" etc never produced any results as the reputation CDI/Everest has with the general public is HORRIBLE. He always claimed that he generated leads for us and that he got lots of them for other classmates of mine(he made up some excuse as to why he didnt have any for me...) I kept in regular contact with my ex classmates and they were never given any sort of leads. NOTHING. So, it was all lies. The only job ever posted for us was one for an administrative assistant at some small company for 10 bux an hour and part time at that(basically a secretary)...I guess that is their idea of a business career. The instructor turnover was pathetically high and they mostly hired ex students to teach the classes(REAL professional eh?!) I had to fight with them to give me my diploma*however useless it may be) as they claimed I still had to complete some ridiculous module on job interviews(which I did complete!) I called the school about 2 years ago to get transcripts(assuming a REAL university might take one of the credits...which they do not!) and they had no record of me ever attending the place. I guess the name change from CDI to everest wipes the slate clean?! It doesnt matter anyway, they have no record of me being there and I want to forget that I was ever there. I do not put the place on my resume either, it is an embarrassment and emplyers just laugh at it when they see it IMO. I apllied to well over 300 places in reagrds to a business job and even offered to volunteer my services to get experince...how may responses did I get...NONE.With so much competitiion out there from actual degree holders from REAL schools what would my 8 months, fly by night piece of crap hold to their credentials...my guess is NOTHING! You do not have to complete high school or even grade school to enroll at this place. The tests are OPEN BOOK(what traditional school would ever allow this?!) Everyone graduates with honours etched into their crap diploma also. These places are a joke...and what more, they now offer ?Masterz" degrees too. 1 years masters degree programs.....GIMME A BREAK. Anyhow, just AVOID!

My buddy mentioned something about a friend of his having trouble with this place, are these kinds of scams (is it really a scam technically?) common. all my experience is with good Ontario colleges so I don't know what's going on. But I here this kinda stuff is everywhere in the states. I'd be pissed if the teacher was showing up 3 hours late, but if they kick you out for tardiness with poor teacher attendance, that's just pathetic.

Everest college Brampton made certain untrue and misleading statements for the pupose of convincing to new students in the programme..

We are given an opportunity everyday to live our lives our way. I choose to enroll at Everest College, I choose to work hard and I choose to take every obstacle as an opportunity.
I met Shabir from their admissions department and we began by getting to understanding of my goals and needs. We worked out a possible strategy and he asked me to remember that they only provided "a toolbox." that it "was up to you to make the best of this chance at a new career and a new life".
Well I have made the most of it and I am now working!! :) Unfortunately many of the wonderful people I had as classmates are not. They complained constantly, about everything and never maximized their time. I like them all and feel they could have had so much more. (if any of you are reading this; I am sorry to say it was truly just as much your fault as it was any of the justifications you continuously refer to you)
I recommend my admissions person (thanks for listening Shabir and being so patient) and I say thanks to (highly recommend) my instructor Mrs. Vallencourt and say that she is one of the best teachers ever.
I highly recommend Everest to those that want to earn their success!!
If your not looking to work hard and earn your future; do notgo to school period. The difference between try and triumph is a little umph. (Quote from Everest Admissions email)

I have never read so much rage fueled exaggeration in my life! If half of what was claimed by these posts was true the MTCU would shut Everest down.
Below is a link to the MTCU (Ministry of Training College & Universities) website - this link is to the ONTARIO PRIVATE COLLEGE VIOLATIONS page - you will notice Everest college is never listed! They have no warnings, fines or ongoing investigations.
http://www.edu.gov.on.ca/eng/general/notices.html
"If there is a complaint and investigation system available, one that documents every complaint, why have none of these "horror stories" been validated by a real third party investigation?"
Most likely because those who post here - instead of with the authorities - are not telling the whole truth. If I was robbed I wouldn't post it - I would notify the authorities and seek justice.
I am a student in the Health and Wellness program, Everest College Hamilton Mountain. I have received job offers prior to my graduation. I work in a small team and learn from a professional teacher - we debate, discuss and apply everything we learn. I spend half of the time executing the strategies that we learn. Yes we have had a few bumps in the road, that's life, we work through them.
To those of you dreaming about a career, any MTCU registered school is a good choice, including Everest.
This link
http://www.ontario.ca/en/services_for_residents/053263
will take you to an MTCU search page, click on the green search button, type n the name of the school and the city that you're considering - it will only list APPROVED schools, if you see them listed in green letters, you are good to go. That's it. If you work hard and choose a field that means something to you, you will succeed. My sister graduated from the same school (Medical Lab.) and referred me, She is working for Hamilton Health Sciences. I had the same doubt and did my own research, it's your life, do not let angry people with no evidence mislead you.
call 905 387 5214 - speak to the campus yourself, tell them that Sam referred you.

WHAT I THINK ABOUT EVEREST COLLE on
Wed, September 23, 2009 8:28 PM
I ENROLLED AT EVEREST COLLEGE IN OCTOBER 2008, FOR THE MEDICAL ASSISTANT PROGRAM. MY FIRST MONTH WAS HELL. THE INSTRUCTOR DIDNT GIVE TO SHITS ABOUT ME OR THE OTHER NEW PEOPLE IN CLASS. SHE HAD HER FAVORITES AND FAVORED THEM. THE TESTS SHE GAVE US WERE HARDER THAN NECESSARY. A MONTH LATER WE GOT A NEW INSTRUCTOR. HE WAS AMAZING IN THE BEGINNING, THEN AS TIME PASSED, HE WAS RELEASING US FROM CLASS HOURS EARLY DUE TO HIS OWN SELFISH REASONINGS, ALL WE WOULD DO DURING COMPUTER LAB DAYS WAS WATCH VIDEOS ON YOUTUBE, WE NEVER HAD TIME TO WORK ON OUR COMPUTER PROJECTS THAT WERE DUE AT THE END OF OUR PROGRAM. COME THE END OF MY PROGRAM I HADNT EVEN STARTED MY COMPUTER WORK DUE TO THIS SELFISH ASSHOLE. HE LOVED TO BE RUDE TO ME IN FRONT OF THE CLASS AT ALL COSTS. HE WAS SUPPOSE TO BE MY INSCTRUCTOR, SOMEONE I LOOK UP TO, TO TEACH ME WHAT I NEEDED TO KNOW, BUT INSTEAD HE TREATED ME LIKE SHIT. ANYWAYS, WHEN I COMPLETED ALL MY MODSM I STARED MY EXTERNSHIP WHICH WAS ALSO A CROCK OF SHIT. MY EXTERN SITE LET ME GO TWO WEEKS INTO MY EXTERN, MY EXTERNSHIP COORDINATOR PROMISED ME SHE WOULD FIND ME A NEW SITE. HERE I AM 2 MONTHS LATER AND STILL WAITING ON A SITE. THEY KEEP CALLING ME IN EVERY WEEK SAYING I NEED TO SIGN THIS AND SIGN THAT. MY EXTERNSHIP COORDINATOR BELITTLES ME EVERYTIME I TALK TO HER, SHE INSULTS ME BECAUSE I DO NOT HAVE MY OWN CAR AND REQUESTED A SITE ALONG A BUS LINE, WHICH IS NOT VERY HARD TO FIGURE OUT, SHE IS GETTING PAID TO DO SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!SHE TREATS ME LIKE I AM MAKING HER GO FAR OUT OF HER WAY, WHO IS THE ONE WHO HAD TO PAY 13 OOO? NOT HER.!!!!!!NOW HERE I AM WAITIN FOR TIME TO TELL WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN WITH THIS PROGRAM THAT I VERY MUCH SO REGRET SIGNING UP FOR. I WISH I COULD TURN BACK TIME AND SIGN UP ELSEWHERE. EVEREST COLLEGE IS A HUGE JOKE.. IF YOU ARE CHECKING INTO SCHOOL......EVEREST WILL JUST WASTE YOUR TIME AND BELITTLE YOU AS A HUMAN BEING. AS LON AS THEY GET THEIR MONEY THEY THING EVERYTHING IS ALL DANDY...

I read almost every post on here, and I have to say that I had a feeling that Everest College is a scam. Just in passing, I also have to say to Ron-Roy Fingerhead (the fourth post) that if you are going to comment on the grammar and/or syntax of someones writing, you had better be sure that your writing is damn near perfect. Your very first sentance is a run-on [...habits of the colleges in question, (PERIOD, NEW SENTANCE/OR SEMI COLON) that being said, I have to mention[THAT] the grammar and the spelling ["BEING ASSOCIATED"? MAKES IT SOUND LIKE YOU'RE TRYING TO SOUND SMART, BUT COMPLETELY UNNECESSARY. jUST SAY "THE GRAMMAR AND SPELLING IN THESE POSTINGS..."]. And that's not even ALL the mistake in just the first sentance. Either "but" OR "rather", not both side by side.
Secondly, grammar and spelling is something that you should have learned in secondary school, not Everest or some other private college or otherwise (unless of course you are taking a university preporatory course that includes high school level curriculum). So I wouldn't blame the proffessors at college for your inability to articulate verbally, or any other for of semiotics for that matter.
That being said, (see, new sentance AND new paragraph), if you are going to spend money on a post graduate education, the assure yourself the school is accredited. This will ensure that the schools full operations are scrutinized. More importantly, programs like OSAP are more likely to give student loans to people who intend to enroll in an acredited school. I applied to the International Academy of Design & Technology in Toronto and got in, but thank God I couldn't afford it and OSAP wouldn't fund me, because my best friend went there and the education was lousy to put it politely. I now attend the Ontario College of Art & Design and am super pleased.

I have been in business for over 15 years. I was responsioble for hiring technology staff at my company. I decided to change careers and become a technical person myself. From what I have read and my own experiences at Everest, much of what is being said is a result of the individual's faults, lack of prepardness or maturity for the course and system of teaching. I think Everest gives me to environment , tools and courseware equal to what other schools offer. As a matter of fact Everest, Trio and the community colleges, in the vast majority of caess, must teach the same content in order fo grads to wirte external professional ertification exams. I agree that some instructors should not be teaching. But is this not the same as Hiogh School or colleges? Your individual success is a product of your self disipline. Private career colleges allows the most disiplined people the opportunity to compress their learning into a few months vs. years at a community college. It requires considerable external time for study. But private schools do not bog us down with fat, you know those liberal and communications courses colleges use to fill up your schedule. The ministry of education sets the policy for accreditation that both private and community coleges adhere to. Any school written about will find its detractors. If you are looking to ffuthur your education stop listening to those who bad talk the schools. Make this a very personal assessment and decision. i will bet most of the negative comments come from immature students who were never prepared for the disipline of a private college or even post secondary schooling, as a matter fact. In my few months I ahve met many (25%-50%) who just don;t belong here but complain consisteltly. I go to Everest in Brampton and my instructors have been great. I have been at the hiring end and know where I recruited technical staff from....

I am paying the same amount of money as those other students does but I am being treated this way. Can you imagine 5 modules with one teacher., teaching in one time!!!!!!!!!.....this is the situation here in North York campus evening business class. "I was sitting on a couch. The money was tight but it wasn't right"
"Then I went to college. I'm done "

I am currently attending Everest College in Thornton, CO. My experience there has been, for the most part, a good one. I enrolled on January 14, 2008. I had checked out a number of community colleges in my area and NONE of them where as helpful and eager to assist me. Back in 2005 I attended the Clearfield Job Corps site in Utah, where I got my CNA certification. I've always wanted to be in the Medical Field and after receiving my certification, I was anxious to take it even further. I had heard about Everest College when it was called something else; now thinking about it, I can't remember the name. The college was sued and shut down; for reasons unknown.
The first day of school there was an orientation of sorts...extremely corny. LOL! They spent the whole time making everyone take turns standing up to introduce themselves. Other than that, I've loved everything about them. Financial Aid is very curteous and helpful. The instructors know their shit and the classes are very small. I had about 9 people in my class that just ended. Next term is my last and I've been looking to find my own Externship, so there aren't any issues when it comes time for me to go. It sounds to me that not all Everest Colleges are bad, just the ones in Ontario...which sucks, because it's giving all Everest Colleges a bad name.
I thank the day I enrolled in this school, it brought the color back into my life and I've met so many new and exciting friends. Everest College....your ok in my book.

THEY MADE ME GO THROUGH SO MUCH BULLSHIT SIGNING THIS SIGNING THAT DUE TO THEIR OWN STUPIDITY OF DROPPING ME FROM THE PROGRAM. THEY WERE TOO LAZY TO WALK TO THE CLASSROOM UP THE HALLWAY TO ASK THE INSTRUCTOR IF I BEEN IN CLASS OR NOT..SUCH IDIOTS RUNNING A COLLEGE? AND ONE OF THE STAFF MEMBERS KEPT SENDING MY CELL PHONE TEXT MESSAGES TELLING ME TO GO IN TO SCHOOL TO FINISH MY EDUCATION...ARE THEY ALLOWED TO DO THAT???LOL WHAT A JOKKEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

What I`m about to say is not meant as an insult to anyone here, but rather pertains to the teaching habits of the colleges in question, that being said, I have to mention the grammar and the spelling being associated with the postings on this board, it is just awful. Most of these posts are almost impossible to read, with the exception of a few and fully illustrates the severity of the teaching personnel at these schools.Perhaps I am to assume that most people here are unlikely to be accepted into a proper community college (no offence to anyone, just being real) and therefore these private colleges swoop in and grab those who have aspirations of studying for a career but don`t have the necessary "tools"....Besides, does anyone personally know of anyone who has been turned down by one of these private colleges? the truth is that they take pretty much anyone and they don`t really care if you pass or not once they get their money.
My story is this...I was laid off from the manufacturing industry and I am looking at retraining through the Second Career program, so, in order to do that I have to research 2 private schools and 1 community college to see which one would better support my endevours, well first up was everest college, at first I was impressed with how quick they were to contact me and how eager they were to help me out and get me on my path to a new career....all good stuff so far.....then, I went down to the college to talk and take a tour.....well the first thing that made me take notice was that the admissions person was late, this made me take notice, but wasn`t a big deal. The second thing that caught my attention was when the female admissions officer finally showed up she greeted me and shook my hand, took me to her office and was talking about "hard ons"...this is not a word of a lie!!. Normally I would like it when a pretty woman talks about "hard ons" but this is neither proper nor professional in this kind of a setting.
Her charming helpful demeanor changed when I informed her that I wasn`t ready to commit to everest. Her tone indicated to me that I was wasting her time....that moment I decided Everest was not for me....and from reading the other posts on this page it appears that I made the right choice.

through the website i enquired about a particular course. they called me back and i talked to Wendy at mississauga campus on central pkwy. she said regarding what i m interested in and what are the timings n schedule of that particular course n other options we need to have appointment as it cannot be discussed over the phone( i wonder why ). she booked an appointment as on first wknd she was not in so she booked it for 2nd wknd so on May 23 i had an appointment with Wendy as she herself set it up. i was there at 12:00 noon the receptionist told me Wendy is on her way she might be coming in late so wait. i kept waiting then she thinks as the kids need a toy so she handed over to me IPOD n ask me to learn about everest college. i did read about it before stepping in thats common sense. then they were talking in b/w that wendy might not come in so if she will not come in the receptionist can talk to me. 20 minutes past 12:00 noon i told the receptionist i m not interested to study in any such place n she said okay n i left. no apology not a single word. they just wasted my time. why Wendy did not call them n let them know she'll have no plans to come. why they did not called me n change the appointment timings. why they fool themselves by handing recorded IPOD videos when they cannot prove themselves professionals. its crap place. the receptionist act like high school kid. not an educated professional environment.

everest college is a scam and we are so screwed...this is a warning.
i feel sorry for myself that i am going to everest college here in toronto
i was laid off a few months ago, and wanted to find a way to further my education
and hopefully get a better job, since i was too late to register to a semestered school i opted for a career college, back then i thougnt i had to start something before my employment insurance ran out
so i looked around got into a couple of interviews and the presentation made at everest looked too good to be true ..and it was ...damn it was all a scam:
for 16,000+ loan (network administration program) that i now i have to pay back
1.i got a book list for all the courses/modules that i have to take.
2.no instructor to guide you to do the work.
3.can't ask questions in doing final projects..(i was told once "it is your project")
now you have students teaching other students what to do on their projects and hopefully you get it right.
besides the know-everything teachers, we have a school president who want to talk about himself...
he told us how he excelled in this and that..how he did this and that..well he didnt go to everest.
and if we talked about our problems with whats going on in the school...he talked about himself..again.
4.certification vouchers.. i have been waiting for 4 months now for 1 voucher, and i am almost done..
the school diploma is nothing without the industry certification, other students who graduated are still waiting..
anyway i am reading books on my own, i am doing projects on my own, getting lectures from youtube
i am behind in my so called self paced studies??? ...when i am trying to do everything on my own???
well i admit i was scammed..and too embarrassed to tell my friends about it.. i tell them im ok
i am an old man who's prospect for good employment has passed but i am trying everything i can
but this could be the last straw that breaks this old man's back..this time i think im really screwed.
everest college took advantage of my ignorance..i have to pay for that
but what goes around comes around ...when that day comes i hope they pay big time

I've attended Everest since August and I am going to graduate in May. I attend the Yonge and Eglinton campus for the paralegal program and have a laundry list of complaints against the school and staff. Everyone is unprofessional, unfriendly, and never answer questions.
My first month in the school many of our school's staff were fired, walked out with their belongings and the students were never given an explanation as to why. When we'd ask, they would answer "They have moved onto bigger and better things"
The competence of the staff: I have a former lawyer, a paralegal and a former paralegal. They do still all have their degree's but are they capable of teaching students about the law? They all seem to lack experience dealing with teaching, not necessarily about the law. The material they teach is often boring, and they seem to be unable to make the course material exciting or to keep me awake. I'm not a hard person to entertain and I know the law is often droll but they just seem to be unable to really focus on what we need to graduate properly.
The rules: My campus recently started coming down very hard on students about the rules. I am unable to bring my own lap top to school and the reasons are unclear as to why. Other than "We provide you with computers" I'd like to be able to use my own computer to do my assignments or take my notes with that won't be erased the following day. No cell phones in class, I understand that rule but my instructor today told us that we can be suspended from school, or kicked out due to cell phone use as well as drinking anything in class. Our class room is boiling hot and forcing students to drink outside in the foyer rather than inside of the class room seems more like a waste of time and money. I paid to come to school to be taught and I can't even drink a juice box or a cup of coffee inside my class. I'm an adult and I can drink my water, juice and coffee without spilling it or needing a sippy cup. My teacher also claimed today they can take our cell phones away for a month if we don't comply with the rules. I highly doubt that.
No questions are answered, we're forced to drink outside the class room and our cell phones can be taken away? I'm unable to use my own computer for classes. This all just seems like excuses and excuses.
I'm bringing my complaints to my director of education.

I couldn't agree more that TRIOS COLLEGE sucks. Unfortunately I can speak from experience and a waste of hard earned $14,000 in fees.
Although CDI/ Everestt gets a lot of bad press - and deserves to - there are so many other private colleges that are smaller businessess, so they fly under the radar.
Anybody who tells you in today's economy that 95% of graduates find well paying jobs in their field are full of $@&$# - BEWARE of All Private Colleges or at the very least TRIOS COLLEGE. This may be the best piece of free advice you will ever get before you find yourself saying, " If only I had known".

Grads from these 6 month/ 1 year fly-by-night career skoolz are ruining the chances from students who go to REAL schools from getting a job! They are flooding the market with bogus credentials and are slipping through the cracks. What I mean is that those who go to 4-6 year, brick and mortar schools are the real-deal and all of these private 6 -one month private schools are a joke! How do I know?! I graduated from one of these jokester schools! High-school level material at best! Fight back against these places as they are a parasite.....they never helped me and only ripped me off completely! My name is . . . Well, if I give out my name I think I'll be more screwed. I signed up in September 2009 to do the Network and Security Specialist course in Mississauga ON campus.
In August I wanted to go back to school so I started looking around. Even though I told admissions I'll think about it and thought I would give in to their commercials and such, I went to the campus and it looked goood, spoke to the teacher and I thought everything was great. I should have read this forum first though.
I'm 20 years old and took a loan from OSAP, 17,000 for the first year (which covers the Network Administrator course) and hopefully that would be all. I'm thinking of switching my courses to end early because although the "lecturer'' is qualified he cannot explain himself properly and seems to look to for the least amount of work to do. In the module course book it says 'There are no lectures.' You can pace yourself throughout the course and take your time to work at your own speed, SOMETHING along the lines of DO IT YOURSELF.
There is almost no guidance and reminds me why I hated school in the first place. I'm learning more about photography (my hobby on weekends) than what I'll be paying a crapload of money later.
Anyway my hope is to get out as fast as possible (with a diploma) and get a job where I can actually get real life experience thereby not putting my money to waste as much. For the rest of you THINKING to apply, GET A REVIEW OF YOUR CAMPUS. Some are good, most are bad.

My name is Christine Tomaszewski I'm a single mom of 3 kids. I was injured on the job back in 2006 and have been on WSIB since then. WSIB enrolled me in Everest College along with my NRCS worker in November 2009 where I attended the Newmarket campus taking Law Enforcement. Upon enrollment I informed James Jack and also my workers informed them of my injuries and they were well aware of my hand injuries and that I couldn't write for long periods of time because my hands end up hurting and swelling.
It was my understanding that there wouldn't be a whole lot of writing and work in the first few weeks let me tell you there was these people mis led everyone from the beginning. When it became time to write my exams I would end up failing because I couldn't write for long periods of time and it was a lot of questions to answer and I would have an exam either weekly or bi weekly a long with tests in between and home work which just ended up killing my hands. I was bought a tape recorder so I could record the stuff to make it easier because Everest wouldn't let me use dragon voice to talk in the computer and the teacher would not allow me to use the tape recorder at all. I called for a meeting because I had enough at this point because I was struggling because my hands were always hurting and swelling so much. It was decided that I was supposed to start doing my exams and assignments on the computer in a private room using my voice recognition software well when it came time to write my next exam and to re write my prior exam I failed before. What happened NOTHING they didn't follow through with there word and we were mis led and they didn't even show any sympathy what so ever. Well WSIB and NRCS had enough and pulled me out of College January 2010. They are exsremely disappointed and furious with Everest College and has just lost the contract with WSIB because this is how they treat there students especially ones that were hurt on the job. Thanks Everest for what you put me through I was looking foward to becoming something better for my children and myself and you guys took that away. I also don't appreciate a certain teacher discussing with the class that because I was injured on the job I would never become a police officer or a correctional officer inappropriate this is how Frank Bartley thinks and he told me he was looking out for me hahaha right. Please everyone becareful if your really considering Everest it's a joke.

I'm currently at the Nepean campus in Ontario taking the program to be Programmer Analyst/Internet Solutions Developer.
I have no complaints about my instructor personally(He has always been helpful anddoes his best) but the college refuses to shell out for a TA, and the instructor is working as an onsite network admin to supplement his meager 40k CDN salary up to 44k.
As a result, he is constantly out of the classroom to help teachers, administrative staff and other students with re-imaging machines, password resets, software troubleshooting, etc.
My recruiter had indicated that I would have an instructor-led education.
(which was a bald-faced lie)
I was also told that additional tutoring would be available if I needed assistance.
(another ridiculous assertion)
The time-lines projected for the program modules are not even distant kin to anything approaching realistic.
Somewhere between 80%-90% of the students in the programming lab are significantly behind schedule.
As a two-time honours graduate from regionally accredited Diploma programs at Algonquin College, I was in no way prepared for this level of shady business dealings and false representation.
Given a choice, I will never attend a Private Career College. I have it on good authority that most of them are not in proper compliance with the act. I suspect a high level of collusion on the Provincial level, and possibly on the federal level, since most of the students enrolled via Second-Careers, Skills Upgrade, or WSIB LMR training.
I begged to go to Algonquin, but was forced into going to Everest solely on the basis of it being a 1 year program as opposed to Algonquin's 2.

okay so If you're basing your decision on going to Everest based on this thread you are nuts!
First of all buddy got kicked out cuz he missed to much school.. they TELL you that if you dont attend you'll be outta there. As far as I've been there (in London) everyone is great they have a career service to place you IN YOUR FIELD! when you graduate and as a private school they have to place you in a job so this guy going on about how he hasn't even tried to look for a job... who's fault is that. my course is the exact same as Fanshawe content but condensed that's why the tests are hard and the work is so much. Its for people who WANT to do the hard work graduate and get a job.
And if you met these people making these negative comments you should probably see what KIND of person they are. I see some wierdos in my everest and would not take there judgment as a deal maker/breaker. see it for yourself and see what your admins, financial, and profs are and have THEM answer your questions.
so anyways I love my everest and am looking forward to graduating and doing my level 2 there...no complaints here.
ALSO I did do a year at fanshawe.. let me tell you...there is no one to turn to when you;re looking for help and no one who knows your name. They could care less if you dropped out unlike Everest who has said hi to me everyday and knows my situation and helps me anyway he can. I recommend it.

Wow,
Sounds like Everest is an Ontario wide scam and is systematically frauding students and the Ontario Government by being an OSAP drain to the economy. I am preparing to sue the Eglinton Campus.
I approached Everest (CDI) in 2007 with the idea that I wanted to work independantly and find a course that would allow me my own business. After a meeting with the rep, I was interested in Massage Therapy and was looking to proceed. I asked about attendance and if there was a way to work around it. They said that due to OSAP I would not be able to miss more than two days in a row ever.
With that I decided not to continue but wait for a better time. Almost a year later I received a call for a follow up. I went in and found that Massage Therapy had been discontinued at my campus. I was then guided into the Business Admin program. The difference this time was there was a solution to my potential attendance issue. If I could pay on my own than the attendace rules (based on OSAP) would not apply. I was encouraged to proceed in this manner and was successful in obtaining a line of credit from my bank. The college knew that I intended to work full time and balance school or I would not proceed. I go the "Yes this is ok" from the educational director at the time and started the business program. At this time I changed positions at work to a shift that was more accomodating (however 3 dollars less an hour). I continued with this for about 6 weeks with attending about 3/5 days a week. My average was good and I was maintaing my course work. I became frustrated with the prospects of learning more about the curriculum and realized my goal of independant business would be realized appropriately with Systems Analyst and Design. I went and spoke with the educational director about my attendance and desire to change courses. I was enrolled in the SAD program.....
At this point Everest knew my attendace patterns and academic level...
They knew I would not be attending more than 3 days a week....
The SAD is a "SELF GUIDED" course "NO TEACHING", "NO LECTURES"
an instructor was available if you didnt understand something.
They still agreed to enroll me, in fact, it was not even an issue and the fact that I was not missing valuable course content seemed to make the fit all the better. I was encouraged and told that the course is the most challenging and that student rarely finish on time and the college will "work with you" to ensure that you succeed. That was mid Feb 08.....
I continued this routine maintaining a 94~% average for all work handed in.
Half way through the year there was a huge staff change and the upper management all left. Two positions (the two that make the decisions) were consolidated into one.
Feb 09--Educational Director Andrew Campbell invites me for a progress meeting and says finally that I have 1 month to complete all outstanding course work and my last day is Mar 6 (DUE TO ATTENDANCE!!). With about half the program to complete, I ask about the ideas presented to me at the time of enrollment ...IE my Line of credit not marked on attendance but my grades and progress, that students can stay until they finsih in the program, alternate arrangements.
He outright dismissed anything and gave a "we'll see".
On the day I was to meet March 6th he blew off the appointment to make me come in the next day just to tell me there is nothing and the conversation ended with him standing at his office door pointing to the hall and saying "I'm finished here"
This was after I asked for his bosses number, to which he did not give me and said I would have to find on my own. I was free to re enroll at any time however.
A guy that started in the school the same time I started business (6 weeks before I was in SAD) was given the same end date as me.
THERE ARE NO CHECKS AND BALANCES TO PROTECT YOU!!!
Calling the VP Martha the following week and leaving several messages, I am still waiting for an acknowledgement and "work with"
THE GOVERNMENT NEEDS TO RE-EVALUATE
WHY ARE PEOPLE OF ONTARIO giving grant money to a school that is not even considered ONTARIO ACCREDITED????
Unfortunately, I found out too late and most of my education has come in the form of real world scams and why I should have taken paralegal.

Ooopps - didn't finish my previous comments....
Everything that has been said about CDI/ Everest College APPLIES to TRIOS COLLEGE. I attended the Toronto Campus - and could not believe the lack of professionalism of all staff including the instructors and director. Campus directors changed three times during my one year program. Career Services is useless - and they dump you like a hot potatoe.
Never have I expereinced the quality of teaching and quality of person to be so low as in this private college. I have attended different universities - so I know the difference between qualified capable instructors and a bunch of incompetent and unprofessional educators.
It is run like a business - except that they forget that good business practice encourages past customers to say positive things and send referrals their way. Even the business thugs who run this college don't know the first thing about growing a business - they just prey on vulnerable individuals who are at some low point in their lives.
Having their name on my resume draws a bunch of blank faces when someone asks me where I went to school. Prospective employers certainly aren't impressed.
What a waste of $14,000 dollars to be offered a starting salary of $11/hr.
BUYER BEWARE!!

one teacher got fired, and the other one fails people who are good, if she doesnt like their face, and youre stuck with that loan

I am a "grad" of CDI aka Everest college and the "modules" are a complete stinking joke. The teachers I had were, well, strange. Thats the only way to put it. Many of them former grads of CDI itself. Its NOT accredited properly and its a private BUSINESS. If I would've known that going to anything private was bad I wouldn't have. But they got me at the right time. Down on my luck, bad job, no where to turn and whammo, I enrolled. The director started out by telling us of jobs we could expect to get once we graduated. She actually mentioned a place up in Elliott lake where we would manage mine workers or something, for 6 months a year, for 60,000 dollars(a place that they had connections to supposedly, they just wanted CDI grads?!It was complete BS!). after hearing that, I was in. But the courses were SOOOO lame, grade 11 high school stuff at best. But, oh yeah, I forgot, "employers were always coming here looking for grads", and " we gotta act professional when they show up"...no "employer" EVER came to that dump. Having been a student at a university for two years the content of CDI was so lame and abysmal, words cant describe it. How are you supposed to get a career with sub-par skills and LOW-LEVEL curriculum. I was useless to the marketplace. I applied to 350 different places and I received not a single call. In my area of "study" that is. Sure I got offers to work at retail places and fast food joints but nothing related to what I took, NOTHING. People were dropping out left and right as they could smell a stinker. Unfortunately I gave the place the benefit of the doubt and got burned. When the courses were over they told me I hadn't completed a certain module needed to graduate(some stupid resume class that I DID complete) after arguing with them they finally gave me that illustrious piece of paper so that I could wipe my butt with it. I asked the director about the contact info for the "Elliot lake mining" job...and she went blank. Had no clue what I was talking about. Yeah! They also have a bogus hiring rate number they use in ads and I think they just recently got in trouble for making the stats up. Taking anyone of their grads who got ANY job(fast food, retail, janitor) and using that to say 96% OF OUR GRADS GET HIRED AFTER GRADUATION. Its all sneaky, bull crap. The guy who they hired who was supposed to find us jobs never did. I think ONE(read:only) job they found was 2 days a week for 11 dollars an hour as a secretary, for some little local company(awesome business job!). It was expensive both monetarily and time wise. I lost out big time and took a huge blow to my ego. I felt like a fool and was embarrassed having been there. To top it off, ironically, the big graduation ceremony was held at the local University(they rented a conference hall), many of us didn't attend of course. Its like a pre-school graduation ceremony for adults held at a proper institution where we should have been in the first place, lol. The lessons Ive learned are this. If the school advertises on tv, has a 1-800 number to call, is a PRIVATE institution, offers the ability to complete programs in less than half the time of a regular school, and is located on the third floor of a scummy building, its safe to say you'll never find a job when you leave. CASE CLOSED! Just type in CDI sucks on your browser and watch how much stuff you find, that says enough, word of mouth....avoid, cdi, devry , phoenix etc, if its private its a dead end......

I suggest everyone stay away from Private Colleges and go to a Public one. I went to CBSTraining in Mississauga to upgrade my skills that I attained from a Public College, and the experience was horrible.
CSBTraining, also known as Canadian Business College and Canadian Business School wants your money but is very slow to deliever on anything.
First of all, this is a correspondance type school where you are not taught, but sit at a computer and are given binders with pages to read. You write a test on these readings, then move on to read the next module. Your final mark includes 40% attendance, so no one can fail. (Wouldn't that be great in University?!)
The Director of the school, an annoying, high pitched little-person treats the school as her social club. She is constantly farting around doing very little work. When she does work, she is on the phone/speaker phone and you hear every single word of her conversation as you are trying to read the material. (She had the audacity to tell "students" to turn their cell phones off when she is the biggest nuisance there.)
At lunch time, the staff go into the Director's office and blare music for an hour. Her office is next to the "classroom", thus the music would resonate throughout the classroom. She would continue to blare the music after many complaints from students.
(Though she would turn it down everytime the school phone rang, guess she didn't want potential students to know it's her party pad.)
When you finish a module, you'd have to wait up to two weeks for the next set of study binders to come in. I guess they hope that you will drop the course and they will keep the tuition and book fees. (There is a drop out fee.)
CDI is a joke, but so is CBSTraining. I suspect all these private "colleges" are. They are a business that wants your $$$, but don't want to deliver what they promised.
I could go on and on...
But please; go to a Public College or University and stay away from these so called "colleges." Their diplomas are worth NOTHING when you are looking for a job. By the way... CBSTraining offers no assistance in finding a job, though they have a bulletin board with job adverts that you can refer to. There was nothing added to this bulletin board the whole time I was there.
There really should be some sort of government inquiry as to how these places are allowed to exist. You will pay at least $10,000 to sit there and read.

And what's with their excessive tv advertising. During the day on some channels, like the one the talk shows are on, they advertise during every commercial break Monday-Friday, sometimes multiple times in the same break. And most with that stupid homey in the crooked baseball cap. What a fraud!
And why are there CDI ads here in Seattle? Helllllloooooooooo!!! Seattle is not in Canada. Noone in Seattle is going to Canada for your stupid school, especially since Seattle has your stupid Everest College right here for us to get ripped off on.

I just wanted to thank everyone who wrote thier input on this website about Everest Colleget. After graduating from University I've been a bit down on my luck. Work has been hard to find and I didn't know what to get into. After seeing commercials for Everest about every 2 seconds on TV (perhaps feeling a bit brainwashed) i decided to go online and ask them to send me a brochure. Well they didn't do that. They called, and they called me a lot. About 5 times a day (I was out working, so my poor mom was stuck talking to them). I remember applying to College and University right after high school. and beleive me, they never put that much effort to get in contact with me. So I was a little skeptical. Anyways they finally got ahold of me on a Saturday morning, my only time to sleep in. Feeling a little harassed, I for some reason decided to take a look at this Everest School. To say the least, I was less then impressed at first. The campus was on the 4th floor of some office building. But hey, everyone was so polite to me. So diffirent from what I went through in University. Everyone there seemed to just want to help me. It was thier mission in life so it would seem. The process took five hours. The man who talked to me was really trying to sell the school. It was so awesome and great he said. I had to sign up immedietley. Classes had begun yesterday and the sooner I started my "training" the sooner I would be out there making a career. He spat at the word "job". "We do no use that word here" he said. "No here its ALL about YOU! And what we can do for you. And how we can help you find that awesome CAREER." It all seemed so wonderful, so I said "In my expereince if its too good to be true it is". So he spent a few hours trying to convince me otherwise. And above all, I had to, absolutley had to sign up immedietley, or else I would miss out. I said I wanted to sign up in september. he said by then Classes might be full, classes after all get filled up fast. But if that's true, and classes already started like he claimed, then why was there still enough room for me to sign up immedietley. I didn't ask, he was busy talking over me. So feeling absolutley exhusted at a point, I made my way to the financial assistance office where they would help me with finances. The course by the way costs around $12,000. But after some number crunching on the calculator I was shown that I shouldn't even worry about that, I would be making so much money in my new career 12 thousand would be nothing for me. I was told 96% of students get hired right away (there was a wall with photos of students who found work, not really enough I thought to constitute the 96%, but who was I to say) I was told the other 4% got pregnant or moved to another country, so there were legitamate reasons for work not being found. So after five hours, feeling thirsty and hungry, I was at the financial office signing something. I think... I have a bad memory. But I didn't start filling out an OSAP application like they insisted. Something was telling me "this place is bad" a student came up to the secratary saying she was looking for a teacher who never came to class. It all made me feel uncomfortable. After reading more about the college when I came home, I noticed they have a lot of rules. Attendance is taken seriously, if 5 classes are missed you're gone! wow a little harsh. I now wish to go back to all those people I saw in the lobby, who looked like they were down on thier luck and desperate to find work. Some had kids, and were obviously poor. I am so thankful to those of you who shared thier stories. and I am so sorry that anyone had to be betrayed in such a horrible way. But for all its worth, all of you have saved me a lot of time money and heartache, and probably others out there too. Thank you a million times over.

Iam a student at C.A.T.I. And i would have to agree that Private Colleges are a bunch of crap. the most important thing stressed is ATTENDANCE this is because like someone else said is if you dont show up or the attendance dont look good then they loose their contracts with HRDC and Welfare and WSIB as this is mostly where these people are from. the instructors are pretty much there just for the money . and just when you think things were bad enough the previous owner Paul Fisher sells the school to some guy from out west that has 6 other schools as just another investment. I paid my course out of my own money and paid in full. which was a big mistake as their is others that arent completely paid and that is where the favortism is.I also thought that i would be enrolled as an apprentice for mechanic as Conestoga College does this when you start their course. what a freakin wast of 12,500 to go to a school which is over rated as it really sucks ass.

Hey, not sure if anyone uses this board anymore but about 3 and a half hours ago i was kicked out of the Law Enforcement Program of Everest College Newmaket. I'm looking for anyone with problems regarding Admin at your Everest Schools, Attendance practices, or general bad experiences. Personally I was removed from the course due to "Attendance Issues", this is because the admin is unable to keep a proper attendance log, or follow through with their own "dont let that stop you from coming to school" pre-enrollment peptalks. If anyone has some issues they would like to share, including what they were able to do about it, they ould be greatly appreciated (the more e-mails I get in my inbox the more I have to go to bat with). My meeting with the regional director, dean of the college, attendance officer, and my instructor(who is actually on my side in this and went to the dean even before i could, *luck*)and lawyer is on Thursday September 4th. So please send them before then ;) Thanks very much and good luck with your individual situations.

note about ATTENDANCE:
The reason why your ATTENDANCE is an important issue is beause if HRDC is paying for your course, and then you don't show up--- The School can LOSE its right to enroll students receiving UI Benefits.
A big part of their profit comes from students getting their courses paid for by Service Canada; if you don't show up... then they won't get paid!
It is more of a UI rule than that of the "college."
Believe me, it's not because the school is altruistic and concerned about you, they are more concerned about their ability to milk the gravy train (government programs) via you!
These private colleges are a SCAM... avoid them!
another vote for dont go private on

I agree dont go to private college. I am a student at C.A.T.I. (canadian automotive and trucking institude) Cambridge. It is the same as the other private colleges. the biggest thing to the teachers is that you show up ,like someone else just said if people dont attend the classes they risk losing the money from HRDC and welfare and WSIB. at our school it is so bad that the teachers actually let you use a cheat sheet which is a 8x11 piece of paper that you can write answers on and bring this to class and use to do your exam. I cant believe i just wasted 12,500 on this course . the school is now even worse now that Paul Fischer the previous owner sold the school to someone out west . which has never seen the school as this is just another investment to him , as he has 6 other schools. for the amount of money that we pay it would be nice is the school would stop being to cheep and get some shop supplys like bead sealer for tires and hand cleaner.I would like to see other peoples experiences of what people have thought of CATI. the other thing about the automotive technology course is they dont start your apprenticeship and no work experince in the field. where as Conestoga College does this. (public) also no prerequist to get into the course . we have people that dont even know how to fill a tire with air or where to put the air in. So Please dont go to CATI

I am a student at Everest College located in Toronto at 117 Eglinton Ave East.
Everest College is just HUNTER OF MONEY!!! They don’t even explain the classes. Since September 2007 that I started Network Administrator program I went there to sit and read my books there is no explanation of anything and if you don’t understand and ask the instructor called Mihal Miu starts talking about his adventures and what he has done in South Caroline(U.S.A) with a truck company. I DIDNT PAY TOO MUCH MONEY TO LISTEN A LOSER LIKE THAT ONE ABOUT HIS LIFE AND AT THE END OF THE CLASS HE NERVER Explained nor answered the student concern.
On October 28th 2008 I have done my 2nd test of Linux Administration and when I have requested a review Mihal Miu said to me to ask department of education because he didn’t care due that he is only replacing Mr. Yash (currently teaching accounting). Mihal Miu also told me that he knew my answer were wrong because he knows linux and he told me to look in Wikipedia for the correct answer. Where I have question myself Am I paying Everest College too much money to get an answer like this one?!
So, I have called Department of Education and I talked to the director Andrew. Andrew told me that he won’t follow up my complaints due that he talked to the teacher Mihal Miu and he said that He has done the test review with me and that he said that the Linux Administration book has wrong information, and how the book is not an Everest book that is my problem . Mihal also told him that the other students answered correctly the question in the test because they didn’t miss too many classes as I did!
Mr. Andrew also added that he has done a review about the teaching skills of Mihal Miu and the night students said that he is very good teacher and friendly person... Of course those kids will say that because that Mihal Miu play internet games with the students in the Computer lab located in the 2nd floor and he tell them jokes and say stupid things as they also do. Andrew the director ended up asking me if I have a personal issue or problem with Mihal Miu where I have answered "What was he talking about, I don’t even know the students names and I will have a personal issue???"
Mr. Andrew as well told me that I missed many classes where I reminded him that due of my hours of work from 12AM to 8:30AM for the last 2 years I have been very sick due of the stress and the lack of sleep, I also added that in my college file is the doctors note where my doctor formally informed about my illness and why I have missed half of may 2008 and almost all June 2008.
The fact is Since the first project I got when Mihal Miu realized that I have some more knowledge and work experience than the other students in the computer lab HE CHANGED THE PROJECT AND HE GAVE ME AN OLD Project with more questions to complete and it had few difficult questions.
Another fact, In the Windows 2003 test I have got 48% in the test so I technically failed and when I have checked the answers in my book I found that one of my question I DID Answer correctly BUT the test Software marked as Wrong, then I approached Mihal Miu to let him know the issue and that I passed the test Mihal said he will check the database to correct my mark on the test… HE NEVER DID IT. One week after Mr. Yash came back to teach us and he told me that my mark on the Windows 2003 test was 48% and that I failed. I ended up showing and explaining again to Mr. Yash that I informed Mihal Miu that my answer in the test was correct and he promised to correct my mark in the data base so at the end Mr Yash went back to the Software Database and check each answer in the Windows 2003 test!!!
Finally I like to add that I have sent an email to Campus Director Marta Kombogiorgas and she didn’t answer.
I have paid my Network Administration program of my RSPs $ 5,000 CAD dollars and since last September 2008 I am monthly paying $ 249 CAD Dollars so I believe how I never caused any issues and I am always paying on time, I never asked for any penny to anyone and I rarely failed in tests.
I deserve a formal review of my test and good tutor to teach me Linux Administration properly due that I have the right to understand Linux administration. This is a tool I never used and it’s very different of Microsoft Operating systems which I have been using for over 13 years.
