Entering social media industry with non-traditional background?

Hey guys,

So I'm a first year student in business school, who thinks social media/tech is amazing.
I'd love to get involved in the industry for a summer internship or co-op, to see if it's potentially a career for me.

I don't have a background in web development, marketing, web design, etc etc.
(Although I do have a decent background in graphic and print media)

At school, I do plan to head into marketing eventually.
I know the social media game a bit and am wired in on Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, and Mashable.

What are typical entry points into the social media industry in Vancouver?
