A Closer Look at Vancouver Accelerators

Accelerators can play a key role in growing early-stage companies and university research and intellectual property into market ready ventures, but not all accelerators follow the same model or offer the same services. 

On February 28th join the Vancouver Enterprise Forum and hear from a panel of BC accelerators from both Industry and University sectors as they discuss the approaches they take to address some of the key issues faced by local entrepreneurs. The panel will also debate the success of BC in growing Silicon Valley-style accelerators and connecting entrepreneurs with industry mentors and financing.

Le Huffington Post Quebec launches today

Le Huffington Post Quebec goes live today featuring HuffPost’s unique combination of original reporting, aggregation, and social engagement tools. The announcement was made today by Editor-in-Chief Arianna Huffington and Graham Moysey, general manager of AOL Canada.

Le Huffington Post Quebec combines HuffPost’s powerful engagement platform with local expertise from a talented Quebec-based editorial team led by the site’s managing editor, Patrick White. Jean-Philippe Cipriani is news editor and Tamy-Emma Pepin is managing blog editor. Bloggers who will be contributing to the site include: Michel Martelly, Yves-François Blanchet, Michel Kelly Gagnon, Julius Grey and Anne Marie Withenshaw, and more.

According to Moysey, “Debuting in Quebec is the next logical step for us following on the heels of our successful Huffington Post Canada launch in May. Olympic Speedskater Clara Hughes Headlines Bell Let's Talk Day for Mental Illness

Bell is donating five cents for every retweet, text message and long distance call placed on their network today as part of a five-year $50 million campaign to change Canadians' attitudes towards mental illness. 

They hope to eclipse the $3.3 million dollars raised last year as Canadians had a combined 66 million texts and phone calls. 

You can contribute without using your phone too this year on Twitter by retweeting @Bell_LetsTalk and Bell will donate five cents towards the cause.

Today Dell Canada and Fongo announced the launch of their new mobile app, Dell Voice – a free to download full feature VoIP phone alternative that may help Canadians save money on their mobile phone bills.

Users of Android and iOS devices can now avoid costly long-distance charges and daytime calling restrictions from their wireless carrier by receiving and placing calls to landline and mobile phones using Dell Voice.

Dell Voice is loaded with free features that Canadians typically pay for as part of their carrier’s plan. Features included with Dell Voice are free local and long-distance calls to most of Canada, free unlimited incoming calls, free Voicemail, free Caller ID, and free Call Waiting to name a few.

Dell Voice uses Voice-Over Internet Protocol (VoIP) technology to receive and place calls with users existing data connection1 (i.e. 3G, 4G or WiFi) on the Fibernetics network.

Yesterday Rogers Communications announced the launch of Rogers One Number a service that allows Canadians to extend their Rogers wireless number to their computer.

Rogers One Number lets you text and talk from your computer and video chat with other Rogers One Number users on your computer, all using your wireless number.

Rogers One Number is available for free exclusively to Rogers wireless customers.

Dayforce acquired by Ceridian Corporation
