Earlier this week, Toronto-based startup Uniiverse, an online person-to-person marketplace for offline services and activities, launched on a worldwide scale.
Built as a layer on top of existing social networking platforms, Uniiverse enables its users to meet people in a trustworthy and authentic way.
“Uniiverse is building the sharing economy, where access and experiences are more important than ownership. This movement will help the environment, global financial issues, and build stronger communities,” says Craig Follett, CEO and Chairman of Uniiverse.
Users can identify the service or activity they’re offering, the price they charge (if it's not free), and when they are offering the service or activity. “For example, a baby sitter can list their availability each week, along with their hourly fee. Other users can then see whether they have mutual friends who’ve worked with that baby sitter before and find out if they liked working with them,” says Follett.

What kind of smartphone - or "superphone" you have as Bell is calling some of these feature-laden mobile devices these days - is a hot topic of discussion at a social event.
The person struggling for a conversation piece takes out their phone and the guy next to them goes: "I have a Samsung smartphone too! We have the same phone!".
That's not the case very often with Samsung though as there's stunningly an unlucky thirteen different smartphones you could potentially own from the big three carriers- many of which look the exact same.
Click the jump to figure out how your Samsung phone stacks up to what else is out there.

Online group coupons are becoming a hot marketing tool for businesses– but do they actually work to build loyalty?
According to a recent issue of the Ipsos Canadian Inter@ctive Reid Report, Canadians are flocking to daily deal sites to try new companies, experience new products or services, and save on purchases. And customers aren’t the only ones reaping the rewards.
Websites such as Groupon.com and WagJag.com appear to be laying the groundwork for building loyal customer bases.

When I worked on the Kraft Tassimo account as a brand representative in 2009 and 2010 the single-cup coffee machine was all the rage at outlets like Wal-Mart, Home Outfitters, Canadian Tire and more.
You'd often set up your coffee stand and you'd see the rival representatives from Keurig or Nestle working the same store as you. The single cup coffee market according to Reuters is 8% of worldwide coffee sales, but it was cheaper to buy the machine and the t-discs than go to the coffee shoppe on a daily basis.
After all, they say time waiting in line is money, too. It was just a genius idea- put in the t-disc and water, and the coffee would come out in a minute while reading a barcode versus brewing an entire pot!
