I am thinking of changing my ISP from infinet to either teluls or shaw. Could anyone give me an idea of their experiences with them.

It varies by area unfortunately. I have used Shaw residential for many years now and swear by their service, download speeds are incredibly fast and consistent.

If you are in a new area as far as homes go, use Shaw. In older areas it is more hit and miss but Shaw will make sure you get good speeds if your connection is not as fast as it should be, it will just take a while for them to replace lines.

Thanks

How often does the internet not connect. We live in the marpole area and have ADSL and I would say every third or fourth day we run into situations where we cannot connect to teh internet for half an hour or so which is a bit of a pain. In addition sometimes when the phone rings the internet gets disconnected.

Sounds like the DSL service between you and the provider may be having issues. Has anyone ever come to your site and done a reliable DSL signal check? Have you recorded the exact times and dates when it went down and asked your provider if thay were having issues with there servers at the time?

Shaw is good but it is not true dedicated bandwith technoligy but uses a sharing type of technoligy. On the whole its been good and yet to try dsl.

BTW where is marapole? how old are the buildings in your area? The age of the area may be condusive with teh age of the telephone wiring and thus may have issues supporting the dsl signal.

We are in the vicinity of Granville and 57th avenue. The building is about 35 years old.

No one has come to perform a DSL check but I will call them and see.

Thanks for the advice.
