I read this recently:
"SEO specialists don''t recommend using external doorway or gateway pages any more, since nearly duplicate webpages might penalize you."
Can someone explain more fully what an external doorway or gateway page is?
Does the above mean that if you have 2 separate web sites, and each nearly duplicates only one specific page, that you could be penalized?
Thanks in advance for your input (any experts here?).
Cordially,

Thank you so much ppuru for this link.
I still would like to know if the following applies to someone who owns 2 separate web sites, in which there is only 1 page that is somewhat duplicated (here is an excerpt from the link's article): "It's easy for people to copy them, make minor changes, and submit the revised page from their own site in hopes of mimicking any success. Also, the pages may be so similar to each other that they are considered duplicates and automatically excluded by the search engine from its listings."
In other words, would the search engines recognize that the same person owns/wrote the 2 web sites, or just penalize both web sites?

I am no expert on search engines or SEO but ... I am not sure search engines would in any way bother to find out who owns the domain / pages.

I think that is true!
