Voip--do you use it?

I''m considering voip for PC to Phone calling. I''ve heard nightmares about some services. Has anyone had any positive experiences with any companies?

My concerns are:
Feedback/delay (overall sound quality)
Customer service
Reliability
Range of services/features

Thanks
L

startup cost can be pricey if you're not careful. But you do save money in the long run if you do a lot of long distance calls. This is for a corporate environment. Not sure about consumer.. Can't remember if there is a 911 service yet

I was going to go VoIP to save money on long distance... but now I use Wintel instead. They MUST be a VoIP network... they charge 25 cents a call, no time limit, anywhere in North America. Only costs $2/month to keep the account itself.

I recommend it to anybody who does a lot of long distance -- it seems fishy at first, I was skeptical, but I've had it for about 6 months now and it's awesome.

Re: Wintel, I was on them for a while which caused them to be my primary provider (Telus was cut OFF!) which was fine for a couple weeks until Telus came begging me to come back. The girl was so rude and threatened to charge me $5 more for internet because I wasn't with their bundle anymore, so I said I would cancel internet altogether AND my cellphone (wasn't on contract) she was yelling at me practically. Oh man! Anyway, she was really desperate and gave me a really good deal (at that time I was only calling one number daily) I could call that number unlimited for $1.95/month!!!

Anyway...yeah so that ended up a better deal than wintel. But for my home business I will need to call multiple #s and Telus doesn't even have an unlimited LD business package!!!

Re: Skype--Only works for Skype-to-Skype members. Not practical for me.

Oh and I don't care about 911--I'll still have my landline and cell.

I use Vonage and Skype. They work really well. The only time they don't work is when the net goes down. He he. Then I use my cell phone.

that's the one drawback for me.. if the the network is down, the phone system is down as well which can be bad if you're using it for business purposes. Where I work, we do use VOIP
