As a Category Manager, you will utilize keen analytical skills and strategic thinking to understand and leverage sales and customer data to grow an exceptional category and deliver on financial objectives. The Category Manager is responsible for the development and execution of a category business plan, including assortment and vendor planning, product selection, presentation, pricing, leading vendor negotiations and supply agreements. Reporting to the Senior Category Manager, the Category Manager supports category management strategies that meet or exceed financial goals and customer expectations.

Responsibilities:

• Act as a subject-matter expert for assigned category, including a comprehensive understanding of marketplace and industry
• Analyze data and derive strategy and tactics to support indicators
• Develop and implement category strategies in collaboration with Senior Category Manager
• Prepare and communicate category information to other functions
• Maintain and monitor key information and prepare and analyze weekly sales reports
• Prepare documentation for product forms and liaise with vendors
• Maintain product listing information and ensure currency and accuracy
• Support sales team to resolve issues or concerns in a timely and efficient manner
• Review market research including category, competitor, customer and trend information
• Deliver financial objectives

Desired Skills & Experience:

• 3-5 years general business experience, including 2-3 years category management experience. Retail and merchandising experience an asset
• Proven commitment to internal and external customer service
• Strong entrepreneurial spirit
• Well-developed analysis skills and the ability to identify business and financial insights from sales and customer data
• Results oriented and the ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency and orientation to deadlines
• High levels of integrity and a commitment to do what you say you are going to do
• A desire to learn and continuously improve
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Post secondary degree in business or a related field
