Competitive Intelligence Manager

HootSuite is looking for a Competitive Intelligence Manager to lead competitive efforts across the company. Key areas of focus for this role will include: 1) driving competitive sales efforts and tools, 2) product positioning and differentiation, and 3) market and competitor intelligence. This person will be a subject matter expert for all things competitive at HootSuite and lead virtual teams across departments to align sales, product, and marketing around winning against the competition. He/she will leverage their knowledge of competition at the strategic and tactical levels to help the sales team win deals, the product and marketing teams deliver competitive differentiation, and the executive team to stay informed on competitor strategies.


  • Competitive positioning and messaging: craft proactive and reactive positioning
  • Sales enablement: build competitive playbooks; deliver sales training, presentations, workshops
  • Sales tools: create sales tools such as battlecards, customer leave-behinds, objection handling, landmines, and other relevant tools
  • Win loss analysis: understand win/loss rates and key drivers, and leverage this insight to improve win rates
  • Research and analysis: advise relevant stakeholders such as product management, product marketing and executives on positioning strategies, marketing campaigns, product requirements

Required Skills & Experience:

  • 5+ years in sales, sales engineering, product marketing or competitive intelligence in enterprise software or social platforms
  • Passionate about web, social, and enterprise technology
  • Deep analytical skills coupled with strong positioning ability
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience and familiarity with social, web, and enterprise technologies.
  • Self-starter who truly enjoys working in a fast-paced, innovative software start-up environment
  • Technology or business education background preferred
