Wattpad is a growing consumer technology startup based in Toronto. It is a place to discover and share stories: a social platform that connects people through words. With over 30 million users and growing, Wattpad is the world’s largest community for discovering and sharing stories and it’s platform helps brands share their stories using our immersive mobile/web/social storytelling platform.

Wattpad is seeking an energetic Creative Director to join our growing Marketing/Creative team. Reporting to the Head of Marketing, the Creative Director is responsible for translating marketing objectives into creative strategies, designs, and plans. Our Creative Director will manage graphic design, collateral development, copywriting, advertising, and promotions. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, resourceful, and have impeccable design and leadership skills.

The Creative Director is charged with determining the best ways for us to visually represent our company’s identity both online and offline. Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the importance of both copy and design in the creative process. They will understand how the two work in harmony to support a consistent brand.

What you will be doing:

° Develop creative programs and concepts that meet business objectives and ensure the Wattpad brand is communicated with a unified voice, tone, and look
° Supervise and inspire the internal creative team and external vendor partners; generate multiple concepts for campaigns or projects
° Lead strategic brainstorming sessions, campaign development, creative brief development, and direct creative execution
Ensure quality creative/editorial content is delivered on time and on budget
° Lead team in developing user-centered design, including profiling and usability methodologies

What we’re looking for:

° Minimum 7 years of creative experience, with at least 4 years management experience working with large-scale web sites, global brands, and passionate communities.
° Must possess a thorough understanding of digital communications, including site mapping, user experience principles, and industry best practices.
° Must have strong experience creating and executing brand strategy through creative.
° Strong experience with brand development, experience design, and creative process.
° Print, digital design, and copy capabilities: must know how to work in both media for integrated campaigns.
° Hands-on experience generating consumer copy a strong plus, as is experience with developing video assets.
° Understanding of design software, Adobe Creative Suite, and web design fundamentals.
° Must possess a sense of humour. If not, one will be provided for you.
° Passion for reading and writing, and a Wattpader (of course)!
