Summary of primary duties and responsibilities:
The Intermediate Accountant is responsible for the full accounting cycle as well as providing support to the Corporate Controller regarding financial statements and month-end and year-end.
Responsibilities:
The position’s responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:
• Prepares monthly and year-end financial statements in accordance with GAAP
• Updates management reporting and forecast
• Assists with the preparation of budgets
• Processes and reviews all revenue accounting related entries
• Processes or reviews Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Bank Reconciliations, General Ledger, Fixed Assets, Loans Payable, Deferred Revenue, Share Capital, Stock Options and Warrants Brings any unusual items to the attention of the Corporate Controller
• Processes semi-monthly payroll
• Prepares monthly commissions
• Prepares/reviews T4’s, T5’s, NR4’s, W2’s, 1099’s, WCB, WSIB, EHT and other regulatory filings including Statistics Canada surveys
• Verifies and reviews daily bank deposits.
• Filing and maintenance of all accounting documents and records.
• Assist in other areas or projects as may be required
Qualifications/Experience
• Education: CGA currently in 5th Level or soon to quality
• Experience: At least 4+ years accounting experience, preferably in a start-up or high-tech environment.
Skills/Attributes
• Netsuite, Quickbooks, Excel, MS Word
• Must be fluent in English and have good communication skills.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated experience with various office procedures.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a customer service orientation.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Good time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
