iSeries / pSeries Consultant

Provide support for all areas of the technical support function including iSeries, pSeries and Tandem systems and communications software, test tools, performance, capacity planning, eCommerce and call center technology as required. Provide technical leadership through special projects and major projects. Provides team leadership as required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership in setting strategic architectural and software plans. Provide technical leadership of a support systems area.
  • Participate in the development of staff by reviewing plans, suggesting approaches and general mentoring to pass along expertise.
  • Manage multiple projects to assure objectives are met on time and within cost. Evaluate performance of project team assigned and reports performance upon project completion to management.
  • Lead planning, scheduling and use of data processing facilities. Lead the design and development of the systems and network infrastructure to support business applications and answers technical questions pertaining to the operating and network systems.
  • Develop, support and implement standards as regarding the operating and network environment, user written macros and utilities. Design appropriate documentation for use by all areas and ensure enforcement of standards by monitoring various systems.
  • Evaluate and recommends new hardware and software in support of network and operating systems. Lead cost evaluation and justification for large scale systems software.
  • Design and implements reporting systems used to support any recommended change, including the development and continued monitoring of a performance measuring system.
  • Represent business unit at technical user functions and develops proposals for performing data processing functions.
  • Maintain and apply knowledge of leading edge technology to reach business goals and objectives.
  • Assist application development with design configuration, implementation and problem resolution.
  • Promote an environment that supports diversity and reflects the HSBC brand.
  • Apply compliance; internal and operational risk controls in accordance with HSBC or regulatory standards and policies; report issues and operational loss events. Abide by human resources and other HSBC policies in support of our ethical and respectful work environment.
  • Complete other responsibilities, as assigned.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science or related field.
  • Minimum of six years specialized experience in support systems technology including a minimum of three years experience in project management.
  • Master’s degree and Supplemental technical coursework preferred.
  • Recognition as a technical resource within the work group; knowledge of multiple platforms, and multiple network protocols; and extensive and specialized technical knowledge in Support Systems.
