Senior Systems Administrator/DBA

Canada Web Hosting (CWH) requires a Senior Systems Administrator/DBA. The ideal candidate will have the skills to provide superior technical administration and ongoing support and leadership for CWH data base systems and dedicated accounts, minimizing risk/impact to the clients' businesses.

Key Responsibilities:
• Setup, manage, secure and optimize performance and reliability of Database systems (MSSQL, Postgres, mySQL, Oracle)
• Provide guidance and recommendations on technical architecture and best practices for Enterprise Systems
• Perform in-depth, root-cause analysis, tracking, documentation and resolution of CWH Infrastructure incidents.
• In critical situations, provide single point of contact for technical expertise between internal departments and any third parties
• Systems Administrator of Unix (Red Hat Linux and Debian) and Windows (Server 2003).
• Build Intellectual property. Automate systems such as backups, reports, systems administration scripts, maintenance procedures and documentation. Develop and/or contribute to technical standards to enhance our service delivery.
• Contribute to CWH projects to deliver a high quality of service to customers.
• Provide assistance and leadership to more junior system administrators.
• Responsible for overall technical health of the accounts assigned including security, backup, availability, and recoverability.
• Maintaining detailed technical documentation around Client systems and routine administrative tasks such as diagrams and setup guides.
• Coordinate and communicate directly with Technical Account Managers (TAMs), Support and Engineering teams to ensure expectations are being met.
• Maintain ongoing task lists and report status to the TAM.
• Provide central point of communications and weekly reports on status of technical tasks and project initiatives.
• Maintain and enhance existing documentation, contact lists and escalation steps.
• Take ownership of issues/problems and ensure timely escalation to the TAM or Team Leader.
• In service-affecting circumstances, provide after hours support 24x7 (will be compensated with time in lieu).
• Ensure resolution details are communicated as they’re being solved (updating tickets and return phone calls) so Client expectations are set/met in a timely and effective manner
• Attend and contribute to weekly meetings held by internal teams.
• Contribute to shift rotation for Toronto office.
• Be aware of the company’s policy on Information Security and to take whatever actions may from time to time be required under the terms of the company’s Information Security Management System [ISMS].
• Ensure quality processes and documentation are developed and followed to effectively create corporate intelligence and assist in efficient standard operating procedures in support of Company’s ISO 9001/27001 standards.
