Junior / Intermediate Level Embedded Software Engineer

Who we are

Critical Environment Technologies Canada Inc. designs and manufactures gas detection systems for a wide variety of hazardous gas detection applications and indoor air quality monitors / data loggers for a wide range of applications in the commercial, institutional, municipal and industrial markets. Many of these applications are for vehicle exhaust, but areas of specialization include refrigeration plants, pools, water purification, arenas, wineries and breweries, waste water treatment, office environments and many more.

Job Description:

We are looking for a junior to intermediate level software engineer to work in our product development department. The position involves writing firmware and software for new electronic gas detector / indoor air quality monitoring product development. It also involves designing small circuits for similar purposes. The successful candidate will work in a small group environment with our development team. We have on going product development and strive to design products that are unique and interesting. The development team will experience the pleasure of seeing their efforts rewarded as new products eventually go into production and are successfully introduced to the world markets. The person in this position will be involved in small and large related development projects making this an interesting job.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Must have good spoken and written command of the English language
• Must have good communication skills
• Embedded software experience with 1 to 3 years writing in C
• Experience with designing, coding and trouble shooting embedded software for 8 to 16-bit micro controller
• Able to read schematics, test and trouble shoot analog and digital circuitry
• Diploma of Technology / Bachelors degree in Electronics Engineering or Computer Sciences
• Has excellent attendance and completes quality work on time

Desired:

• Familiar with developing software for Microchips PIC processors
• Familiar with MPLAB IDE
• Experience with any of the following: Visual Basic, C# or Visual C++
• Experience writing code for hand-held devices
