Job Summary:
Reporting to the Assistant Director, Systems, the Programmer Analyst participates as a member of the development team and is responsible for middle tier development of a new n-tier information system in Progress Open Edge.
Key Responsibilities & Duties:
• Managing the middle tier development in Progress.
• Participating in the design of the new system.
• Working with front-end developers in the development process.
• Performing some database administration tasks.
• Performing basic analysis of functional and business requirements.
Object Modeling and Specification: UML
Coding Language: Progress Open Edge ABL
Programming Environment: Progress Open Edge Architect
Source Code Management: SVN, Bugzilla
Platform: Windows OS, .Net Framework
• Participating in code review.
• Working with Systems staff and senior management for requirements specification, coding, enhancement, and documentation of applications.
• Providing required documentation and participating in architecture and requirement reviews to ensure that the solutions comply with standards and use approved technologies.
Skills, Qualifications & Development:
• Bachelor’s Degree or technical diploma and 3-5 years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with Progress ABL
• Experience with Windows OS, .Net Framework.
• Exposure to application modeling in UML.
• Excellent planning, organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task, schedule, balance priorities, and meet strict deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
• Experience in Insurance/Benefits/Membership applications would be an asset.
• Experience with Progress Application Server development is an asset.
• Experience with Progress Open Edge Architect is an asset
• Experience with Crystal Reports is an asset.
