Project Manager

OpenRoad Communications is looking for a skilled Project Manager. The Project Manager is responsible for managing web application development, website, and intranet projects, ensuring that they proceed smoothly and complete on time and on budget. The Project Manager will work closely with clients, support the activities of all project phases, and ensure that all project risks are managed effectively. The position requires excellent communication skills and an understanding of project management best practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage web application development, website, and intranet projects, ensuring that they are completed on time and on budget
  • Effectively manage deliverables and client status reports
  • Track software development schedules and milestones
  • Manage a multi-disciplinary team that may include business analysts, information architects, graphic designers, usability testers, technical architects, senior developers and testers
  • Assist in business development activities like the creation of estimates and project plans for proposals
  • Manage project issues using OpenRoad's web-based issue/bug tracking system
  • Participate in the creation and review of service agreements and statement of work documents
  • Participate in post project reviews and work on improving project management practices internally
  • Other related duties as required

Mandatory requirements:

  • A minimum of five years project management experience on large business software development projects (preferably web-based)
  • Excellent communication skills and a detail-oriented nature
  • In-depth knowledge of project management best practices, tools and techniques
  • An undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
    Skills required:

  • Excellent organization and planning skills
  • Strong initiative and leadership
  • Tactful and diplomatic negotiating skills
  • Clear and concise written and verbal communications
  • Sensitivity towards personal needs and interpersonal dynamics of the teams
    Successful candidates should have demonstrable depth of expertise in one of the following areas; working knowledge of other disciplines an asset:

  • Web and/or software design and development
  • Internet technologies and their application to business strategies
  • Risk management practices
  • Usability analysis and test methods
  • PMP certification / PMI best practices
  • an accounting professional designation (CA, CGA, CMA) would be considered a definite asset
