Senior I/T Architect

Responsibilities

  • Play a lead role in determination of overall solution architectures and designs to support the delivery of key transformational projects.
  • Assist project teams in determination of solution architectures and designs consistent with enterprise architecture standards and frameworks.
  • Support solution architects in resolving architectural issues.
  • Review and approve all project architecture deliverables.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders from the business units and IS to define target application architecture and roadmaps for the clients systems.
  • Play a lead role and work with the development team, business and vendors in evaluating application packages and technologies.
  • Establish and maintain architecture standards and frameworks for application components and provide direction to project teams to ensure compliance.
  • Working closely with the development teams, review and evaluate current application capabilities and provide recommendations on required improvements.

Required Knowledge

• Strong knowledge of enterprise architecture techniques and experience with strategic architecture initiatives.
• Strong object-oriented analysis skills with understanding of design patterns of n-tier and service-oriented architectures, including web services.
• Knowledge of principles of software architecture, techniques and notation.
• Knowledge of integration architecture standards and patterns.
• Knowledge of and experience in business process modeling.
• Knowledge of and experience in Business Support Systems (BSS): Order/Request Capture Customer Care, Ordering and Billing systems.
• Knowledge and experience with the following is a definite asset:
• J2EE development & architecture: Java, JSP, Servlet, CSS, Javascript, JDBC, Struts, SQL, HTML
• Internet based technologies including portals (prefer BEA) and content management (prefer Documentum)
• Application Security concepts and technology including identity management and single sign-on
• Systems or architecture experience with Enterprise Resource Management (ERP) SAP applications.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor or Master Degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent education and/or experience.
7 or more years practical experience in information system

This is a permanent, full-time position in Vancouver, BC.
