We are looking for an accomplished Web User Interface / User Experience specialist who is not intimidated by the opportunity of giving a site viewed by millions every month a fresh and optimized shape and face.
Job Description:
•Take charge of Suite101.com's site experience, usability, design, and features
•Develop and improve Suite101.com's UI
•Work with our Web developers and non-technical staff to design, develop, prototype and roll out industry-leading features
•Supervise look-and-feel of all site elements including colours, logos, icons, and graphics (involving external resources where required)
•Actively gather and assess user feedback to develop new features
•Conduct usability tests
Required Skills:
•Undergraduate or graduate degree
•3+ years experience as lead visual designer of web-based products on consumer web sites
•Systematic (rather than intuitive) understanding of UI design
•Conceptual leadership in all aspects of design and visual communication
•Able to act as liaison between business, design, and technological objectives
•On top of the latest developments in web experience and design
•Experienced in testing designs, e.g. using focus groups and online tools
•Very strong spoken and written English communication skills
•Eligible to work in Canada
Additional Skills:
•Degree in Information Design or other visual arts preferred
•Fluency in HTML, CSS, and/or JavaScript are considered strong assets
•Good understanding of SEO concepts is considered an asset
•While effective solutions are the priority, an eye for beautiful design will still help
•Graphical design skills and advanced use of Photoshop / Illustrator are bonuses
