The Nitty Gritty:

Big Viking Games is looking to add a skilled Software Developer, with previous Unity experience, to one of our mobile projects that is still in development. This position can be based at either of our London, ON or Toronto, ON studios.

The Duties:

  • Design, program, test, optimize and support an array of mobile games that are either live or in development
  • Implement game enhancements and features within the games you are working on
  • Work collaboratively with art and design teams in order to bring projects to life
  • Identify system issues, anticipate problems, provide estimates and implement solutions
  • Engage in design reviews and discussions to provide feedback
  • Write functional and clear documentation for all projects you work on
  • Assist with performance monitoring, bug fixes and optimization
  • Architect and implement gameplay systems
  • Assist in planning out the technical and development timelines; defining future specifications of the product
  • Work on multi-tenant features that service millions of live users
  • Work on various titles and related engines; the first project you'll tackle will be in Unity

The Essentials:

  • 3 or more years of experience as a Software Developer, preferably in the gaming industry
  • Must have shipped at least 1 Unity title
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • Solid understanding of AJAX, web sockets and client server development
  • Proficiency with Unity, C# and Java
  • Experience with Smart Fox
  • Previous experience working with large databases and a strong networking knowledge
  • Familiarity with Git
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present ideas in a suer-friendly manner
  • Passion for games
