Build cool tech that matters

Digital Animal Interactive is an innovative, Vancouver-based company that is focused on changing the way that people buy shoes online. At Digital Animal, we believe in better. Our technologies are the backbone of better digital UX, better conversions for our partners and, most importantly, better consumer purchasing experiences. Our first product, FTSY (‘footsie’), highlights our first in a series of digital products that we are building from the ground up.

We’re a team of doers. We research, discover, design and deliver disruptive technologies as a quick & nimble team of self-starters. We are a diverse team with talents and backgrounds in the areas of software development, marketing and business. We are focused on building a thoughtful team that uses multidisciplinary approaches to solve meaningful problems. We value innovation and honesty, integrity and empathy, as well as hard work and work-life balance. You’ll be joining a competitive team looking to challenge status-quo digital commerce experiences.

Our team is looking for you - a passionate, creative, thoughtful software developer ready for the challenge of disrupting the digital footwear marketplace with us. We are looking for someone with start-up experience who shares our values and loves to work hard with great people.

You Are:

  • A Team Member: You are motivated by other people and driven to see the team succeed.
  • A Self-Starter and an Achiever: You see what needs to be done, and do it. You are rarely satisfied by the status quo.
  • Consultative: You express your opinion, share information freely, and listen to and consider other ideas and opinions without ego.
  • Empathetic: You respect and understand the feelings of the people around you and strive to learn what motivates teammates and users.
  • AND you love to learn

This opportunity involves working directly with our highly experienced software development team, led by our CTO, and our UX design team to create a world-class product while delivering on our strategic technology goals. You will have exposure to our partnerships with leading universities in both technology and business development, which provides access to cutting-edge research and the opportunity for professional development.

You will be responsible for the creation and ongoing management of the mobile application (initially Android) to provide consumer friendly capture and validation of imagery to feed our back-end processing pipeline. Although this position is mostly front-end, more senior full-stack developers would be welcomed.

You Are Awesome At:

  • Android mobile application development
  • User interfaces (working with design team)
  • Software development tools (git etc)
  • Dealing with ambiguity and working in a fast paced and constantly evolving environment

You Have:

  • A degree in Computer Science or similar experience (minimum 2 years of commercial software development experience)
  • A track record of understanding the bigger picture and developing scalable projects

Optional/desirable experience in:

  • iOS Mobile Application Development
  • OpenGL/WebGL
  • HTML5/CSS3/Javascript application and SDK development
  • Near real-time image processing
  • AWS management (EC2, S3, DynamoDB, Lambda, IAM)

Let’s build better. We can’t wait for you to join the team.

Digital Animal is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability status.
