Position overview:

The Web Developer assists in the design of technical solutions and performs moderately complex web development or problem solving activities.

You'll be primarily accountable for:

• Designing, writing code and completing moderately complex web development tasks following detailed specifications.
• Carrying out testing and debugging of moderately complex scripts.
• Complying with established web development guidelines and standards.
• Conducting detailed analysis of defined systems specifications and developing and documenting designs that meet applicable standards; identifying, analyzing and resolving moderately complex software and design inadequacies.
• Providing design recommendations to improve visual design and usability.
• Assisting in the analysis of more highly complex systems specifications and in developing and documenting designs that meet requirement standards.
• Participating in product design meetings.
• Providing input for Technical Writing department to produce documentation for product.
• Troubleshooting, monitoring, and preparing simulation and evaluation plans to ensure that designs meet specification.
• Participating in code and design reviews.
• Maintaining current knowledge of Central 1’s family of products, application functionality and the high level architecture of Central 1’s hosting environment.
• Performing other duties as required to deliver exceptional service and to support Central 1’s business goals.

Your qualifications include:

As the successful candidate you have a university degree in computer science or an interactive/web design discipline (or equivalent) and 3-4 years (minimum) relevant experience in web development. Your experience must include the analysis and development of one or more moderately complex applications. You have thorough knowledge and understanding of methods, standards and best practices with respect to web development. You also have intermediate knowledge of programming concepts. You must be able to hand-code HTML, CSS, and JavaScript while working with a content management system. You bring strong documentation and image editing skills, and display strong analytical, problem solving, organizational and time management skills. You communicate effectively both orally and in writing with technical teams and other co-workers, work to schedules, and adapt easily to changing priorities and business needs. You have the ability to work on multiple projects in a team environment. Exposure to object-oriented JavaScript concepts and frameworks is an asset (including MVC patterns, JQuery and Require.js).
