The race to service IT departments in mobility in the BYOD (bring your own device) craze is heating up. In addition to RIM and Vancouver’s Absolute Software, Cisco Systems has released “Smart Solutions” that go beyond just BYOD.

The three solutions include the integration of service provider mobility, enterprise mobility, security, collaboration, and desktop solutions. This makes sense because a Cisco IBSG Horizons study of 600 U.S. IT and business leaders suggests that just 14% of BYOD costs are hardware-related.

While Amazon doesn't often crop up in the rumour mill, a recent report by Ad Age suggests that the online retail behemoth is considering advertisements on the Kindle Fire's home screen. Sound nasty for the user? Perhaps, but you probably won't have to worry—Amazon won't take less than $600,000 for a single campaign.

FB Goes Public: Watch Facebook Billionaire Mark Zuckerberg Ring Nasdaq's Opening Bell [Video]

Today, social network Facebook went public for $38 per share at a total valuation of $104 billion. Founder, CEO, and now multi-billionaire Mark Zuckerberg rang the opening bell for the Nasdaq from his company's headquarters in Menlo Park, California, this morning. Naturally, he was wearing his signature hoodie.

Facebook is selling 421,233,615 shares of common stock to raise $12 billion in capital. This is the largest technology IPO in history. Under the ticker symbol "FB," Facebook shares are currently up over 5% to more than $40, pushing the company's valuation to $110 billion.
